At Marc Williams Goldsmith, you can be assured that every detail is painstakingly considered in every piece of our handcrafted jewelry.
This year we are pleased to introduce you to repoussé work. From the French, this term literally means “to push back.” This technique dates back to the Bronze Ages. Essentially, the process is done in reverse; the detail is achieved by pressing or pushing with small tools on the back of the piece until it dimples, creating an intaglio, or engraved effect on the back of the piece, with a raised design showing through to the front.
We have adapted the technique slightly for more of a free-form, sixties type of look that we affectionately call, “Repo”.
