1 23 November 2018 Province Weekly Newsletter In celebrating and acknowledging the 150 years since Patrick Ambrose Treacy and the pioneer brothers arrived in Melbourne and the 50 years since Parade College East Melbourne relocated to its present site at Bundoora, approximately 40 brothers gathered at Parade College. A ritual was held that incorporated the recently installed outdoor sculpture of Ambrose and his companions. The brothers were welcomed by the Acting Principal Mr Andy Kuppe and the highlight of the ritual was the “performance” of the Parade College students as they told the stories of Ambrose Treacy, Fersey Bodkin, Barnabus Lynch, Joseph Nolan and Regis Hughes. (Hughes arrived 18 months after the four founding Brothers). Following the ritual, the brothers enjoyed lunch generously served by Parade College. Treacy, Barnabas Lynch, Fersey Bodkin and Joseph Nolan on Monday 19 November

At last Monday’s luncheon at Treacy Centre celebrating the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the pioneer Irish Christian Brothers on 19th November 1868, John O’Halloran gave a toast to our Irish heritage. John’s speech is a sepaarate attachment to this newsletter. Appreciation is expressed to John for his research and fine delivery.
