The eight residents and two chaperones that went to the “Reunion Show” in Ft. Worth said the trip was well worth it. They had lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Burleson and continued on to the show at the Omni Theater Center where performers entertained them for 2 hours with music from the 50’s to the 70’s.
The fiddle player pictured here was the hit of the day and received a standing ovation with his Orange Blossom Special.

Remembering.... Born on September 23, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York, Joe Yule, Jr. seemed destined for the stage. In 1922, at the age of 17 months, he made his debut and became a part of his father’s vaudeville act.
His family broke up when he was 3 and his mother moved to Hollywood where she hoped to get her son a part in the Our Gang comedies. From 1927 – 1933, he appeared in over 50 short comedies. It was during this time he came up with the name Mikey Rooney.
He moved to MGM in 1934 and gave an outstanding performance as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This led to roles in more than 15 films of the Andy Hardy Series in which he played alongside Judy Garland. They became a famous song and dance team.
From 1939 – 1941, he was named America’s biggest box-office attraction.
He was drafted into the armed services in 1944 and served until the end of World War II. He entertained the troops under General Patton and received several medals, among them the Bronze Star for performing in combat zones.
Mickey returned to Hollywood after his discharge, but never reached the heights in his career that he attained in earlier years.
Rooney is almost as famous for the number of his marriages – eight – as he is for his acting. His last marriage to Jan Chamberlain in 1978 lasted 33 years.
He’s one of the very few with four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one for Motion Pictures; one for Television; one for Radio; and one for Live Theater. He’s listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest movie career, a span of 86 years, from 1925 to present, and he may be the only actor in history to have appeared in at least one film in each of ten consecutive decades. He’s the only surviving screen actor who appeared in silent films and who is still acting in movies in the 21st Century.
