Well the people didn’t like it. They sent letters and telegrams to the president to try to get him to do something about it.

Some marches were led by Martin Luther King, Jr..

On Good Friday, April 12,1963he was arrested for joining the

marches personally which violated the court order against

the civil right marches.

Kent State ProtestAntiwar Activists and protesters argued that President Nixon had

widened the war only to make the world a more dangerous place.

Many other college students also protested the war. National Guard was called to serve punishment as needed. On May 4th 1970 the Ohio National Guard shot into a crowd

killing 4 students but only wounded nine. The impact of the shootings were very sad but influential, it

caused a nationwide strike among students from hundreds of colleges

to close.

Protest of the positive kind

College demonstrations also supported the war. And held

counter protest for Americans who supported the president.

May 18th , 1970 during a antiwar rally many Americans who

supported the president decided to demonstrate by waving American flags and chanting “All The Way

U.S.A” thousands of counter protesters such as construction

workers, business men, secretaries, and housewives marched

peacefully through Manhattan’s streets.
