    Preface to the first edition.

    It will hopefully not misunderstand the title of this document It contains no

    preser!ati!es a"ainst# $ut a protecti!e a"ent for cholera %reser!ati!es a"ainst cholera

    has already enou"h& one has this disease from all sides added so that it is no wonder

    that it draws from one country to the other# $ecause they ne!er found a permanent

    home 'ut not enou"h to dri!e them away& they will cut you# and since you do not

    ha!e poison and $loodshed can dampen# one has# as I had (ust read# now e!en firin"

    cannon a"ainst them )med chir time* recommended+ho had thou"ht that such a

    lar"e pills in medicine fashion still# and that this would lend to her last resort of the

    policy It seemed to me the fairness in accordance with# a disease that may ha!e some

    $ad ha$its# howe!er# yet to lea!e# not without help# while people do not ,now more to

    $e $efore all help# and that is why I ha!e this font as safe,eepin" a"ent for cholera at

    would ta,e him# which he has already 'ecause the dissatisfaction is not a !esselwhose emptiness disappears $y screwin" fillin" of water and earth# $ut a "rown

    !essels in the spon"e# which shoots up to the hi"her# the more you add water and

    earth !en the $lind are thus "enerally far happier than we# and should rather us as

    we re"ret it and seie further than they see while half our misfortune is that we (ust

    since lea!in" the ordinary method# the people eat and drin, continued with their
