The Interna® connection by BTI has the following main features:

· Exclusive four-lobe anti-rotation design.· Entrance cone to facilitate the insertion of prosthodontic components.· Designed to withstand high torques without the connection suffering deformations.

· The most advanced design technologies have been used to calculate the stress distribution.

· Guaranteed bone stability around the implant thanks to the study of the load stress distribution.

· The dimensions maximise material in critical areas and thus increase resistance to breakage and fatigue.

· The dimensions of the connection are always the same for all implants, regardless of the platform.

The BTI Externa® connection is characterised by:

Having a hexagon with different side and height dimensions depending on the implant platform. This design is a result of the indications of the implants, therefore, the Wide platform implants will have a larger hexagon than the universal platform implants, as they are indicated for giving pros-thetic solutions to those areas of the mouth with greater biomechanical requirements.

Children: Permanent implants are not intended for use in children who have not concluded their growth and development stages.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding: There are no additional preventive measures other than those generally accepted in oral implantology techniques. However, these par-ticular situations should be considered by the clinician before placing the implants.

Re-use and/or re-sterilisation of implants may cause risk of infection and/or cross con-tamination.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS BTI implants

Two connections. Three different platform diameters with the wid-est range of prosthodontic components on the market.

The optima® surface is adapted to the dif-ferent tissues in contact with the implant in order to promote and accelerate osseoin-tegration.

NECK

The optima® surface up to the platform is adapted to favour the retention of marginal tissues and reduce the risk of periimplantitis.

CRESTS

The optima® surface of the threads pre-sents a porosity that allows bone anchoring to its exterior, favouring the initial stability and improving osseointegration.

VALLEYS

The optima® surface of the valleys pre-sents an ideal average roughness suitable for guiding the bone growth between the threads at the same time as maintaining the mechanical properties of the implant.

The unicCa® surface is a chemical modifi-cation with calcium ions, thus providing a number of advantages:

Induces the formation of bone tissue.

Provides immediate stability.

ANTIBACTERIAL

Optimises the adaptation to the different tissues and improves osseointegration.

There are two possible apexes for BTI implants:

1. An apex with exceptional advance/drive capacity and a small apical surface that prevents compres-sion at this level, providing control of the direction and the location of the implant in narrow alveolar crests. It also provides a greater osseointegration surface. This is the standard apex.

2. An apex with a lower advance/drive capacity and large apical surface adapted to achieve primary stability without compression in anatomical areas where significant injury to structures is possible such as to the maxillar sinus and dental nerve. Designed for extra-short implants.

Transporter with depth marks and with the reproduction of the connection on the same, to control its positioning.

The implants of the Universal Plus platform are indicated for immediate placement in a post-extraction alveo-lus and are ideal for bridge abutments in areas of canines and premolars. EXPANDER IMPLANTS TRANSITIONAL

+ More information about the expander implants in the brochure “BTI solutions for atrophic maxillae”.

The expander implants by BTI are the perfect alternative and complement for conventional bone expansions. They are transitional implants that are inserted in the alveolar bone crest when there is not enough width to fit a definitive TINY® implant. They are, therefore, an alternative to block bone grafts for the reconstruction of the atrophic alveolar process.

They have a specific surface treatment that increases bone apposition, but different to that carried out on definitive implants, making their explantation easier.

NEW SURFACE TREATMENT TI-GOLDEN Abutments

· Golden finish: The golden colour achieves a significantly aesthetic improvement by transmitting a greater warmth to the gingival tissues.

BTI prosthetic attachments are evolving to improve the quality of the prosthetic work. Ti-Golden is a coating that improves the aesthetics and the biological interface by de-creasing the accumulation of the bacterial plaque.

ADVANTAGES

· Improves the antimicrobial properties: The bacterial colonisation decreases, there-fore minimising the risk of periimplantitis.

· At gingival level: Improved union of hemidesmosones to the new surface, improving the biological seal.

HEALING ABUTMENT

The slotted healing abutments are transepithelials made from commercially pure titanium with a smooth external surface finish that enables perfect healing of the soft tissues. They can be cut with thick diamond drills and pol-ished with fine grain drills and rubber if it is necessary to customise the outline. (E.g. in case of pressure in the space of the papilla).

The Interna connection abutments are supplied sterile in heat sealed blister packs. Thus they can be used in the pa-tient's mouth straight from the package, without needing to be sterilised in the clinic. The Externa connection abut-ments do not come in blister pack.

The new expanded healing abutments have a wider geometry in the supragingival part. Available for Interna con-nection, universal platform with expanded diameter from 4.1mm to 6 mm (total height 5 and 6 mm) and wide plat-form with expanded diameter from 5.5 mm to 7 mm (total height 5 and 6 mm).

As main advantage, this expanded platform protects the soft tissue during the osseointegration period.

Both abutments are retained directly into the implant (with a torque of 20 Ncm) in the first surgery for single stage implants, or when the second surgery is performed, in cases of two-stage implants.

* BTI recommends using the narrowest abutment, provided this is possible, to gain gingival width, so the papilla will have greater irrigation and consequently, less recession.

Re-use and/or re-sterilisation of these single-use products may cause risk of infection and/or cross contamination.

IMPRESSION COPINGS AND OCCLUSAL REGISTRATION INDICATORS

IMPRESSION COPINGS

This part is used to make impressions directly to the implant or to a transepithelial abutment. Individual fenes-trated trays or disposable perforated plastic trays are used for the indirect technique and closed trays are used for the direct technique.

They are manufactured from commercially pure titanium and consist of two parts, the body that has the shape of the connection and the screw that must be tightened manually or with a large hexagon screwdriver. In the indirect technique, this screw must be loosened once the impression material has set and before removing the tray from the patient's mouth.

The copings for the direct technique are made of steel AISI303.

OCCLUSAL REGISTRATION INDICATORS

These are used for occlusal registration in edentulous patients in cases of immediate load.They are screwed directly onto transepithelial abutments with the DIRO screwdriver before making impressions.

LABORATORY ANALOG

Analog of the implant platform or transepithelial abutment.

Once the tray has been extracted from the patient's mouth with the copings, the appropriate analog must be screwed in.

The analogs of internal connection are manufactured from commercially pure titanium, while the analogs of external connection are manufactured from surgical stainless steel.

They are a faithful reproduction of the platform and connection of the implant. They are designed to withstand the placement of the prosthetic work.

PROVISIONAL AESTHETIC CYLINDEREngaging and non-engaging

Plastic provisional cylinders (PEEK) in white, which makes them suitable for preparing provisionals in aesthetic areas. They can be loaded with acrylic materials without the need to hide the grey of the titanium.

The observations to be taken into account in the use of these components are the following:

· These parts are approved for provisional use in the mouth for periods of 6 months or less, so a more long-term

use is absolutely contraindicated.

· The drilling of these parts in the laboratory must be performed at low revolutions. Excessive overheating that could melt the plastic must be avoided.

· They are not indicated in patients with bruxism or in the posterior tooth area exposed to greater masticatory loads.

· In cases in which it is necessary to use cement on these parts, it is advisable to avoid polyurethane-based cements, as they may present problems of setting.

They are screwed into the implant with the titanium Ti-black hexagonal or gold square screw at 20 Ncm and on the transepithelials also at 20 Ncm .

GOLD ABUTMENT POST

Enables the restoration of multiple and individual teeth. They are screwed directly into the implant and used with cemented prostheses. The impression is made directly to the implant (indirect technique).

Due to the precious alloy from which they are manufactured, the gold abutments can be ceramised with conventional feldspar ceramic, and thus porcelain margins can be created. (CET 25-500ºC: 14.6 x 10-6 K-1; 25-600ºC: 14.9 x 10-6 K-1). Fusion interval: 1020-1155ºC.

They are screwed into the implant with the Ti-black screw or the gold square screw at 35 Ncm.

TITANIUM BIOPILAR® Straight and angled

Enables the restoration of multiple and individual teeth. They are screwed directly into the implant with the square gold screw or the Ti-black screw at 35 Ncm and used with cemented prostheses.

This range of abutments is specific for the philosophy of the BIOPILAR® profiles. The BIO concept represents an evolu-tion of the design of prosthodontic rehabilitation, based on the modification of the biological space. It introduces a new vision oriented towards the long-term stability of hard and soft tissues for long lasting aesthetics. It is based on a change in the morphology of the transgingival profile to ensure better vascularisation.

INDICATIONS

· In cases of aesthetic requirements in the anterior sector.

· When we wish to reduce the transgingival profile for horizontal movement in the biological space.

· In cases of limited interdental space.

ADVANTAGES:

· Increases the biological space.

· Improves the vascularisation around the abutment and, consequently, reduces gum recession.

· Favours the maintenance of bone tissue.

CERAMISABLE ABUTMENT POST CERAMIC-ON®

These enable the restoration of multiple and individual teeth. They are screwed directly into the implant and used with cemented prostheses. The impression is made directly to the implant (indirect technique).

They come in gold and titanium for Universal platform (internal and external connections) and in gold for the Wide platform (external connection).

They are screwed into the implant with the square gold screw or the Ti-black screw at 35 Ncm. They do not require the use of any other component.

INDICATIONS

· Multiple and single restorations When the height of the tissues is 1 mm or greater, it is possible to make angled

ceramic abutments. Crowns with a ceramic shoulder or fully ceramic crowns can be cemented onto them.

· Designed to add ceramic for titanium in the titanium abutments and conventional ceramic in the gold abutments.

(CET 25-500ºC: 14.6 x 10-6 K-1; 25-600ºC: 14.9 x 10-6 K-1).

· Fusion interval: 1020-1155ºC.

AESTHETIC ABUTMENT POSTEngaging and non-engaging

Aesthetic abutments for direct to implant prostheses, with a BIO Profile of for long-term maintenance of the gingival mucous membranes.

Available in five heights: 0,1,2,3,4 for Universal Platform Interna Connection; and four heights: 0,2,3,4 for all the rest plata-forms Interna and Externa connection. Manufactured from commercial pure titanium with a Ti-golden surface treatment.

Non-engaging version: Suitable for multiple prosthesis screwed into the implant.Engaging version: Suitable for single prosthesis (screwed and cemented) and multiple cemented prosthesis.

Highly versatile, they can be used with or without a casting sleeve, for the manufacture of conventional prostheses and CAD/CAM systems.

The casting sleeves are manufactured from ertacetal. When working with no sleeve, the aesthetic abutments are used as machined bases for cemented prostheses on which the Zr, e-max, Ti, Cr-Co and resin sleeves can be modelled. When working with a sleeve, there are prepared screw retained and cemented conventional prostheses (casting and ceramic injection).

UCLA GOLD ABUTMENTEngaging and non-engaging

Gold cylinder, machined, used as an alternative in the construction of the conventional UCLA abutment. The engaging one is used for the construction of individual teeth (screw-retained) or stumps (cemented). The non-engaging one is used in cases of multiple screw-retained restorations. The impression is made directly to the implant (indirect tech-nique).

They are screwed into the implant with the square gold screw or the Ti-black screw at 35 Ncm.

INDICATIONS

· Multiple and single restorations It also solves problems of angle and customisation of the emergence profile, as angled abutments can be custom made. They are cast-on with precious alloys for ceramic, for subsequent ceramisa-

UNIT TRANSEPITHELIALStraight

Engaging titanium transepithelial made up of two components: sleeve and retaining screw. Ti golden surface treat-ment in the cylinder and Ti-black in the screw.

It is available for the Universal and Wide platform Interna connection and universal platform Externa connection. Con-nection with the implant through the corresponding tetra-lobed figure. At the top has a square, with no sharp edges, into which the rest of the components fit.

It is screwed into the implant with the disposable plastic screwdriver and the definitive torque is appliedwith the tapered-standard torque wrench tip PTCE16 and the torque wrench LLMTP at 35 Ncm.

The Unit Transepithelial for wide platform Interna connection has a specific torque wrench tip PTUA.

INDICATIONSThis is the appropriate component for immediate loading of screw retained single unit restoration. It asures the Hermetic Seal at the interface with the implant and the preservation of biological seal by means of hemides-mosomes; enables finishing the works in CAD/CAM or using the conventional aesthetic abutments.

Multi-Im® TRANSEPITHELIAL Straight and angled

Titanium transepithelial made up of two components: sleeve and retaining screw. Ti golden surface treatment in the cylinder and Ti-black in the screw.

The straight one is screwed into the implant with the disposable plastic screwdriver and the definitive torque is ap-plied with the tapered-standard torque wrench tip PTCE16 and the torque wrench LLMTP at 35 Ncm.

In the case of the angled 17º, the transporter is metallic. To apply the torque, the tip PTHS22 shall be used with wrench LLMTP at 35 Ncm. This angle of 17º between the prosthetic and surgical axis will help us to correct non-parallel cases for inclined implants, with greater ease in the construction of the prosthesis. The prosthetic components of these ele-ments are specially designed for this. The impression is made with the specific impression coping.

INDICATIONS

For multiple screw-retained restorations. This is the abutment to choose for screw-retained immediate load in multiple restorations and for manufacturing bars on overdentures. It enables the restoration to emerge even at 0.5 mm above the implant, in addition its low cone height enables us to resolve divergences between implants.They are sold sterile.

TRANSEPITHELIALSExpanded

Expanded transepithelials, for Interna and Externa connections.

These new products make the transfer from the Universal platform (diameter 4.1 mm in the implant) to the Wide plat-form (diameter 5.5 mm prosthetic structure).

They maintain the two-part structure (sleeve and screw), and the surface with Ti Golden treatment and Ti Black screw.

The Multi-Im® transepithelials Interna Connection are available in 4 heights: 2, 3, 4 and 5. The transepithelial Unit In-terna connection and Multi-Im® Externa connection are available in 3 heights: 2, 3 and 4 mm.

Insertion into the implant at 35 Ncm torque.

INDICATIONS

They are indicated for rear areas of the mandible which need a wider prosthetic emergence than that offered by a Universal platform.

They facilitate the stability of the soft tissues, in rear areas of the jaw, in the second surgery or in cases of immediate load. Having positioned an implant from the Universal platform, they distribute the biomechanical load better in these rear areas of the mandible.

CYLINDER FOR STRAIGHT AND ANGLED Multi-Im®

GOLD CYLINDERS

They are used with the Multi-Im® transepithelial for the preparation of the final prosthesis. Their bevelled design enables a better union between the porcelain and the gold cylinder. We recommend using an alloy with a high gold content for cast-on (CET 25-500ºC:11.9x10-6 K-1; 25-600ºC: 12.2x10-6 K-1).

They incorporate a casting chimney, to facilitate the wax-up work in the laboratory. The parts are non engaging. If needed, the casting sleeve can be separated from the gold body by traction.Material: Gold alloy (1400ºC).

CASTING CYLINDERS

Used for the manufacture of the final restoration on Multi-Im® transepithelials, making a direct wax-up of onto the casting cylinder. Material: casting plastic.

LOCATOR ABUTMENT

Abutment for overdentures, in one single piece that must be screw-retained into the implant at a torque of 30 Ncm.

We will select the abutment that is exactly at the same height as the tissue or the next size up. This size will enable the 1.5 mm of the fixing head to emerge over the level of the gum that surrounds the implant.

PROPERTIES

· Auto-aligning, as they provide easy positioning and correct seating of the patient's overdentures; in addition they eliminate additional wear and the loss of bonding due to incorrect seating.

· Angle corrections of up to 40º, in divergent implants, using the same abutment, therefore it is not necessary to place angled pillars.

· The lowest vertical height of the market, an advantage especially when the interocclusal space is limited. The total height of fixing is 2.5 mm for an Interna connection implant.

Abutment with two parts, designed to stabilise and retain the partial or complete prosthesis.

Screw directly into the implant with the handle MDPT and the tip PTDO at a torque of 20 Ncm. It needs a minimum intermaxillar distance (available in different heights).

The impression is made directly to the implant.

INDICATIONS

TITANMAGNETICS ABUTMENTS

The Titanmagnetics abutments are retention elements for overdentures.

The system consists of two magnets:

· The first is screw-retained into the implant and is presented for Tiny® implants and for the Universal platform, for both Interna and Externa connections.

· The second is incorporated onto the prosthesis.

In addition it has a position hose, which is placed on the screw-retained magnet and this enables the second magnet to be seated perfectly upon it, accurately indicating where the prosthesis must be placed.

It also works as the insert for the transport and application of torque to the magnet that is fixed to the implant. This maximum recommended torque is 20 Ncm.

ADVANTAGES

· The fixing with magnets is dynamic and simple for the patient to put in and remove; especially for much older patients, thus facilitating hygiene.

· It is indicated for solutions for basic and economical prosthetic work.

in gold: These are manufactured from a precious alloy coated with a layer of pure gold of 4 µm.

In titanium, Ti-black: These are manufactured from commercially pure titanium, with a specific surface treatment.

Used for the fixation of the provisional and definitive prostheses at 35 Ncm. The gold screws use a square screwdriver and the titanium use a hexagonal one.

SMALL-HEADED SCREWS

Manufactured from Ti-black, direct-to-implant or on a transepithelial, they have a smaller head to facilitate entry into CAM machined structures with a angle of up to 15º.

NEW TI-BLACK SURFACE TREATMENT Screws

· Greater preload for the same torque.· Possibility of the screws coming loose reduced to a minimum.· Preload similar to gold, reducing the cost.· The lifetime of the screw is extended, as it is more resistant to fatigue.

The number of cycles of stress and fluctuating deformation that this material can withstand is much higher than that of conventional titanium and is comparable with gold.

These screws incorporate a new tungsten carbide surface treatment that de-creases the friction coefficient and improves the glide, which gives them similar properties to gold in terms of preload and resistance to fatigue.

SURGICAL DRILLS

The design of the BTI drills enables you to work at low revolutions (50-75 rpm) without irrigation, which means you can recover all the bone when drilling and use it as an autograft. It is also possible to work with the parameters of conven-tional drilling, at high revolutions if required.

Drilling at low revolutions provides excellent control of the drilling depth and perfect visualisation of the depth mark-ing, reducing the chance of causing damage to significant structures. It also helps to control the direction of drilling on the vertical.

With the new drilling technique, as it is more accurate, the neo-alveolus created will house the implant with greater initial stability. At the same time, from a biological point of view, the socket, as it has been made without irrigation, will be in the best condition for revascularisation and the subsequent osseointegration of the implant.

The depth marks are at: Short drills 3, 5, 8.5, 10 and 13 mm Long drills 3, 5, 8.5, 10, 13, 15 and 18 mm

ADVANTAGES

The initial drill has a very active tip and with excellent penetration capacity in the cortical bone. It achieves precise drilling and an exact location of the starting point for the drilling, particularly in narrow alveolar crests, and better directional control. It also enables lateral drilling in case we want to modify the location of the neo-alveolus by half a millimetre. It is the ideal drill to use in immediate post-extraction implants, as it allows us to drill accurately into the wall of the post-extraction alveolus.

This drill must always be used with abundant irrigation, either with saline solution or with pyrogen-free sterile water, and at revolutions between 800 and 1,000 rpm.

The next drill is 1.8 mm diameter, with an exclusively apical cut. Its special helicoidal design is very good for retaining the bone particles that are cut. This drill is used almost exclusively in narrow alveolar crests. The rest of the drills with larger diameters are used progressively, depending on the diameter of the implant to be placed and on the bone qual-ity. They can all be used without irrigation as long as you work at low revolutions.

CENTRING DEVICES

The platform positioners facilitate the selection of the im-plant platform, as its widest part has the same diameter as the colour of the platform it represents, and to verify the dis-tance between the platforms of the implants or between teeth and implants.

Its narrowest end can be positioned after the initial drilling, with an additional use as direction indicators. The widest end is inserted into neoalveolus after the 2.5 mm drill (for the Uni-versal platform) and after the 3.25 mm drill (for the Wide plat-form).

The short centring devices are used in the surgical preparation of the alveolus for extra-short implants, with lengths between 5.5 and 7.5 mm.

IMPLANT MOUNT CONNECTOR

Indicated for transporting the implants to the alveolus. They are inserted in the counter-angle, programming the motor at low revolu-tions (between 15-25 rpm). The long connector is ideal for the ante-rior area and the short one is adequate in posterior areas.

INTERNA® APPLICATOR EXTENSION

DYNAMOMETRIC SURGICAL WRENCH

Surgical ratchet wrench with torques 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 Ncm enables you to know the exact insertion torque of the implant in the maxillary bone.

In order to decide which torque to apply, BTI's scientific directorate recommends detecting the bone density with den-sity identification tools, such as the implant simulation and diagnosis software based on CT scans, BTI Scan® 3.

For suitable fitting of the implant with a controlled torque, the surgical motor must be set at 20-25 Ncm and the implant inserted. Once the preset torque has been reached in the motor (20-25 Ncm), continue the manual insertion with the wrench, setting the desired torque depending on the bone quality and the calibre of the implant; thus, in narrow im-plants or in cases of wide implants poor quality bone (Type IV-V), the wrench must be positioned at 40 Ncm; otherwise, with wide implants placed in bone type I, II or III, the torque selected shall be 50 Ncm.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Rotate the torque range regulator in both directions to achieve the desired torque; the torque is read using the markings on the handle of the wrench: 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 Ncm.

Once the torque has been set, fit the adapter of the ratchet wrench and proceed to the insertion of the implant. When the preset torque has been reached, the wrench will turn without applying torque (with a characteristic sound).

MULTITORQUE WRENCH

Multitorque wrench that uses the existing torque tips and screwdriver tips, in the appropriate handles for each. They must be inserted into one of the bodies of the screwdriver supplied. The set can be used as a manual screwdriver.

The screwdrivers fit into the multitorque wrench to apply the torque controlled on the scale.

The range of torques is: 10 - 20 - 30 and 35 Ncm.

They are used to apply the required torque to the retention screws, abutments and transepithelials.· 20 Ncm, for healing abutments, titanium screws for transepithelials, Dalbo® and small-headed screws.· 30 Ncm , for the Locator abutment.· 35 Ncm, for gold square universal screws, direct-to-implant Ti-Black screws and transepithelials.

The torque wrench needs cleaning before each use. For each sterilisation it is advisable to use an autoclave or chemi-clave. Short-cycle sterilisers are not recommended. They must also be verified after approximately 100 sterilisation processes.

This screwdriver consists of two components: the handpiece with reduction 1.2:1 and the handle that adapts to the handpiece. Turning the handle produces the rotation of the interchangeable screwdriver tips. It can be used for insert-ing or removing screws or healing abutments.

The components of the handpiece are reinforced so that the application of torque does not deteriorate the splines; its special design enables it to be perfectly cleaned, lubricated and sterilised like any surgical handpiece. It enables the application of up to 80 Ncm of torque, so we must monitor the force when tightening screws; otherwise, they shall be an instrument of choice for unscrewing tightened parts with a high torque.

It is an essential instrument in both surgery and prosthetics when working in the rear sector, as it provides easy ac-cess and prevents the screwdriver accidentally being swallowed or inhaled.

It must never be used as a motorised counter-angle.

EXPLANTATION KIT

This innovative system enables the safe and traumatic extraction of implants with both internal and external connec-tions of practically any brand of dental implants with prosthetic connection.

The extractors are inserted in the connection of the implant and adapted, using an extender, to the special wrench included in the kit. Thus the implants are detached safely by torsion, as bone-implant union is broken. In the event 200 Ncm is reached, the wrench forms an angle and prevents progress. If necessary, it is repositioned using a cylindrical part.

INDICATIONS

· The system is indicated for the extraction of osseointegrated implants when they are no longer functional or are unnecessary in a new prosthetic situation.

· It enables the safe, atraumatic extraction of implants, in most cases avoiding the use of the traditional protocol of extraction using a trephine drill.

· Each kit comes equipped with detailed instructions for use.

This is a kit to use when the large hexagon or square head of the universal screw, the healing micro screw, the screw of the transepithelials cylinder (straight, 15º or 30º) or the hexagon head of the transepithelials placed in the implant are stripped.

If when one of the aforementioned screws is tightened, a greater torque than recommended is applied, it may end up unusable, preventing it from being tightened or extracted.

MICROIMPLANTS FOR ORTHODONTICS

BTI offers microimplants for orthodontics manufactured from Grade 5 Titanium alloy with different diameters and lengths, designed to be the fixed anchor for the different orthodontic movements, used as a complement to natural teeth for this purpose. They are used temporarily while they are needed as an anchor, and are later removed. They are inserted transmucosally on adhered gum.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HEAD

· The head of these implants has two crosswise grooves that house the

corresponding screwdriver during insertion.

· Similarly there is a hexagonal area so they can be manipulated with the

system connector.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE THREAD

· The external thread has a self-tapping profile with a sharp tip, so drilling is not performed prior to the insertion of the implant.

· The thread profile is anti-expulsion, in order to withstand the tractions to which it is subjected.

· It has a wide thread pitch to avoid breaking the bone.

· The threads are 0.5 mm deep.

Children: They are indicated for this population group for temporary use.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding: There are no additional preventive measures other than those generally accepted in oral im-plantology techniques. However, this particular situation should be considered by the clinician before placing the implants.

OPERATION

The patient arrives at your clinic, and after an examination, they will be diagnosed with an ab-sence of teeth or the need to re-place existing ones.

BTI Scan® 3 generates panoramic images that show the mandibu-lar foramen, making possible to draw its trajectory, (which can be seen in the panoramic section and in the sectional views) and observe any dental pathology the patient may have.

With a scanner a series of axial sections are obtained which the radiologist stores on a CD-Rom that will be sent immediately to the dentist.

BTI Scan® 3 allows you to simu-late the placement of the im-plants, being able to define the length, diameter, angulation and distance between implants and teeth with greater ease. It offers your patients confidence. The 3D simulation and virtualisation of BTI Scan® 3 will allow them to feel much safer with the opera-tion.

BTI Scan® 3 reformats the axial sections to show three types of section per screen: axial, pano-ramic and sectional. BTI Scan® 3 allows you to carry out a much quicker, effective and precise analysis of the CT scan, helping to adequately plan the surgery and its long-term predictability.

The dentist can print out a final report of the planning, adding their own notes and recommen-dations for the surgery. With BTI Scan® 3 the chances of success with surgery increase consider-ably.

CLEANING AND STERILIZATION

All the prosthetic components and surgical instruments are supplied clean and hermetically packaged, but only those where it is marked on the label are sterilised. The device that comes from the factory sterile is subject to the following process:

1. Cleaning and degreasing.2. Cleaning in clean room and hermetic packaging.3. Sterilization by gamma rays.

For the other devices that are not supplied sterile, all components intend-ed for use in the mouth must be sterilised in autoclave before first use. (See procedure for sterilisation in autoclave)

If the instruments are reusable, they must be reprocessed after every use.Reprocessing consists of three stages:

1. Manual or automatic cleaning.2. Manual or automatic disinfection.3. Sterilisation in autoclave.

REPROCESSING REUSABLE INSTRUMENTS

After every surgical use, submerge the instruments in a cleaning solution, according to the manufacturer’s instruc-tions, to prevent the fluids and residue drying and to facilitate the subsequent cleaning and disinfection.

MANUAL CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

1. Remove the majority of the impurities with a soft-bristle brush using running water at ambient temperature.2. Disassemble the instruments (if applicable); callipers and others instruments with joints must be opened to pre-

vent residue remaining in these areas and the extraction wrench must have the torque disabled.3. Submerge the instruments in an ultrasonic bath of a solution of neutral detergent at the correct concentration,

temperature and time, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure the ultrasonic cleaning is suitable for the instruments that are going to be cleaned and that they are not touching each other inside the bath.

4. Remove the instruments from the bath, brush them again and rinse with distilled water.5. Visually verify that there is no residue. If there is, start the process again.6. Once clean, submerge the instruments in a container filled with a disinfectant solution according to the manu-

facturer’s instructions. Ensure all the instruments are submerged and are not touching each other.7. After the recommended time, remove the instruments and rinse with distilled water.8. Dry the instruments with filtered compressed air until it is completely dry.9. Lubricate and assemble the material (if necessary). We recommend you do not use silicone or oil-based lubri-

cants as they inhibit subsequent sterilisation processes.

REPROCESSING REUSABLE INSTRUMENTS

AUTOMATIC CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

Use always a washer-disinfector certified in accordance with ISO 15883.

1. Disassemble the instruments (if applicable); callipers and others instruments with joints must be opened to prevent residue remaining in these areas and the extraction wrench must have the torque disabled.

2. Place the instruments in the washer-disinfector according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Hinged instruments must be open and those with cannulas must allow water to pass through.

3. Add a neutral detergent, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and select a suitable programme for the cleaning and final rinse.

4. After cleaning, proceed to thermal disinfection: 10 minutes at 80ºC.5. Dry the instruments with filtered compressed air until it is completely dry.6. Lubricate and assemble the material (if necessary). We recommend you do not use silicone or oil-based lubricants

as they inhibit subsequent sterilisation processes

STERILISATION IN AUTOCLAVE

The instruments with catches or joints must never be closed (metal against metal) before the sterilisation process.

The autoclave cycle must be allowed to finish, without interrupting the drying and cooling phase, to avoid the risk of oxidation.

Never use or sterilise rusty instruments.

1. Place the instruments in suitable bag for sterilisation and seal according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure the bag is large enough so there is no areas of stress that could cause the bag to burst and the sterility subsequently to be lost.

2. If you are using the BTI autoclavable boxes to sterilise the instruments, insert them into suitable bags for sterilisation and seal according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure the bag is large enough so there is no areas of stress that could cause the bag to burst and the sterility subsequently to be lost.

3. Insert the bag into a pre-vacuum autoclave with the paper up or to the edges, without exceeding the maximum load indicated by the manufacturer and without stacking.

4. Sterilise at 134ºC for 6 minutes. The indicator on the bag will change colour to show that the sterilisation is correct.5. Once the sterilisation cycle has finished, leave the bags to cool and dry inside the autoclave and then put them away

in a closed, dry place.
