The Prosser Health Careers program has expanded student opportunities by establishing new partnerships with Norton HealthCare, the University of Louisville Hospital, and Ivy Tech. After completing the first year of the Health Careers program, students will have the opportunity to enroll in one of three different second year Health Career pathways.

Upon arriving at Prosser, you will immediately notice that Prosser is under construction. The building project includes over 45,000 square feet of new learning space as well as a significant renovation of the existing building. The new learning space will be ready for our students at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. Renovations throughout the current building are projected to continue through the summer of 2019.

The new learning space will include a state-of-the-art building for our AUTO COLLISION, AUTO TECH, AND DIESEL programs.

• Participate in a 300+ hour internship in a sterile processing/surgical department.

• Earn 21.5 Ivy Tech dual college credit hours

• Earn a national Sterile Processing & Distribution Certification

• Earn an Ivy Tech CST/SPD Certificate of Completion

Aviation Flight/OperationsThis program is for students interested in an aviation-related career. Curriculum includes basic aircraft science, power plants, propulsion, as well as primary ground school. The program complies with all FAA rules and regulations and second year students will experience actual flight time. Careers: Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers and Ground CrewsArchitectural Drafting and DesignStudents will learn to use the most current computer-aided design (CAD), 3D modeling software and equipment to learn fundamental drafting, geometric constructions, ANSI standards, and residential design and site work. Careers: Architect, Engineer and Interior DesignerAutomotive Collision RepairStudents are trained to perform damage analysis, cost estimating, body repair, pulling and straightening, welding, parts replacement, steering and suspension repair, and painting/refinishing. Careers: Collision Repair Tech, Insurance Estimator/Appraiser and Automotive Refinish Tech Automotive Services TechnologyStudents learn theory and experience hands-on instruction in repairing vehicles using the latest automotive diagnostic and repair equipment. Students will perform lab work in Prosser’s fully operational automotive services business. Careers: Automotive Service Tech, Service Writers and Insurance AdjustersComputer NetworkingStudents will learn how to install operating systems and software, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, and maintain wide area network systems. Curriculum is aligned with Comptia A+, Comptia Network+ and Cisco CCNA. Careers: Information Systems Management, Computer Installation and Maintenance and Computer Systems AnalystComputer Programming/DatabasesStudents will learn computer programming concepts needed to implement and maintain software applications that people use every day with their computers, mobile devices and game consoles. Students learn multiple programming languages, providing a broad background. Careers: Computer Programmer, Informatics Specialist, Database Administrator and Web DeveloperConstruction TradesStudents learn numerous aspects of home construction by actually building a house in Prosser’s own sub-division! Students complete hands-on and classroom instruction in estimating, layout, footing/foundation, platform construction, framing, roofing, siding, window/door installation, stair building, and interior finish. Careers: Framing/Trim Carpenter, Mason/Brick Layer and Cost Estimator CosmetologyStudents learn how to cut and style hair, do permanent waves, color hair, and complete many other hair-related tasks. In addition, students learn how to give facials, pedicures, manicures, and nail replacements. Students will be prepared for the Indiana Cosmetology licensing examination. Careers: Cosmetologist, Nail Tech and Make-up ArtistCriminal JusticeStudents participate in a comprehensive program that introduces them to all aspects of the criminal justice system. Students will learn program-related topics, including rules of evidence, crime scene investigation, police history, crash investigation, juvenile & adult justice systems, personal safety and defense tactics. Careers: Police Officer, Attorney, Probation Officer and Conservation OfficerCulinary ArtsIn this highly-active program, students complete the basic disciplines of culinary, food and beverage, and baking. Students will perform practical experiences by operating Prosser’s Café and participating in Prosser’s Culinary Catering services as they prepare to become a chef. Careers: Chef, Caterer and Food ManagerDiesel Service TechnologyStudents learn to use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and tools to repair and troubleshoot semi-trucks, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment. This program will provide lots of practical hands-on experiences. Careers: Diesel Maintenance Tech, Truck Sales and Hydraulics Repair TechElectricity/Industrial Repair & MaintenanceStudents learn all aspects of basic residential, commercial and industrial electricity. Training in the use of programmable logic controllers, mechatronics, robotics, and electric motor controls are included in this course. Careers: Electrician, Mechatronic Tech and Electrical Engineer.

Entrepreneurship and New VenturesStudents will study all aspects of business management and will learn how to ethically manage a business. A special focus will be placed on the entrepreneurial skills and tools critical in starting your own business. (A one-year program for juniors or seniors.) Careers: Accountant, Sales Rep. and Business Owner/Manager Heavy Equipment OperatorStudents learn to operate all types of heavy equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and dump trucks. Curriculum also covers safety, preventative maintenance, surveying, basic earthwork and road construction. Careers: Heavy Equipment Operator, Excavation and Home Site SpecialistFire and Rescue/EMTFirst-year students will study all aspects of Fire Science to include, firefighter safety, rescue equipment, fire control, rescue/extrication and hazardous materials. Second-year students will be prepared to obtain an Emergency Medical Technician certification. Careers: Firefighter, EMT and ParamedicHealth CareersStudents participate in a variety of experiences such as nursing, lab testing, obstetrics, imaging, physical therapy, surgery, medical offices and extended care. Students will be trained to career-related certificates, including CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), CST (Central Service Technician), CPR, and First Aid. Careers: Nurse, Central Service Tech, X-ray Tech and Medical AssistantHeating, Ventilation, Air ConditioningStudents learn the skills necessary for installation, trouble-shooting and maintenance procedures for heating and air-conditioning units, and refrigeration equipment. Careers: Commercial/Residential Technician, Technical Service and Pipe FitterHorticulture ScienceStudents will learn the skills needed for careers in landscaping, lawn and turf management, green house, hydroponics, aquaponics, floral design, and nursery operations. Furthermore, students acquire leadership skills through (FFA) Future Farmers of America activities. (A one-year program for juniors or seniors.) Careers: Agronomist, Sports Turf Specialist, Horticulturist and Soil Scientist. Interactive MediaStudents study the creation of digitally generated or enhanced projects using the most current industry based software available. Students will learn to manipulate text, photos, graphics, animations, sound and video into creative projects. Careers: Audio & Video Producer, Animator and Photographer (A one-year program for juniors or seniors.)Introduction to PharmacyStudents learn the fundamentals of a pharmacy career while attending evening classes at Prosser. Students are able to take a full load of classes at their high school. (A one-year program for seniors only.) Careers: Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Med and Pharmacy TechLandscape ManagementUsing technology practices, students will learn and practice procedures used in planning and designing a landscape. Students learn how to use different pieces of equipment to construct and manage landscape designs including golf course maintenance. Careers: Landscape Artist, Greens Superintendent and Sports Turf Specialist (A one-year program for juniors or seniors.)Precision MachiningStudents learn to shape and form metal using the most current tool and die making equipment available. This project-based curriculum will include experiences using lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, grinders, and CNC. Careers: Machinist, Tool & Die Maker and CNC Programmer

NEW PROGRAM: Strategic Marketing and MerchandisingThis specialized Business course will provide students an opportunity to learn and apply business theories and concepts in an actual workplace environment. Students will be employed in a paid business internship that is connected to their personal and educational interests. Careers: Accountant, Sales Rep and Business Owner/Manager (A one-year program for seniors only.)

Welding TechnologyStudents learn to fabricate and weld metal using shielded metal arc, oxyfuel, MIG, TIG, and plasma arc techniques and procedures. This program includes classroom and lab experiences that lead students to AWS (American Welding Society) certifications. Careers: Pipe Fitter, Iron Worker and Steel Fabricator

NEW PROGRAM: Dental Careers This program will prepare students for a dental assisting position. Curriculum will include instruction in chair-side assisting, equipment/instrument identification, tray set-ups, sterilization, disease control, histology, tooth morphology, and dental charting. Careers: Dentist, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist and Orthodontist

There are 38 different licenses and certifications offered within

Prosser programs. Last year, Prosser students earned over 700 of these

valuable credentials!

Job Shadowing, Internships, and Mock Interviews are just some of the real-world learning experiences and activities in which Prosser students will participate. We feel so strongly about the benefits of real-world learning experiences that we require all first year students to complete a job shadowing experience. Last year, over 700 students participated in one or more real-world learning programs.

Academic Honors diploma. This school-year there are over 200 senior students

enrolled in Prosser who are pursuing an Honors diploma.
