summaryPartners rock. Take a look at any aspect of your life: personal relationships, business relationships, education relationships. Having a partner makes magic happen.

The key is to ensure each party is bringing their best to the table and that this best works with the other bests involved. Otherwise, it will probably suck.

Take a look at five potential partnerships for Sweet Phenomena, and find out which product is chosen. Will I end up looking like a total wanker or will fan-freaking-tastic magic happen?

about meI dream of a world where girls feel they are on an equal playing field. They are confident, independent,

and empathetic. They grow up in a safe environment and they only put themselves in safe

and loving relationships.

my vision

In order to bring about the change I’d like to see in the world, I want to create books, workbooks,

educational resources, and mentoring programs designed to help girls realize their potential as well

as help mothers learn to teach this themselves.

local shelters

Domestic violence shelters have many unique needs and very few resources to address those needs. Often these resources go to handling the basics: food, shelter, support services.

I’d like to work with local domestic violence shelters to create a workbook designed specifically for kids ages five to 12 upon admittance into a shelter.

Their parent has just fled a horrible situation and they have nowhere to

go. The kids might have some idea of what’s going on, but it’s still a very confusing time for them.

The parent is focused on a million different things from the emotional toll of leaving their situation to filling out paperwork to figuring out what they’re going to do with their life. The workbook would help children make sense of what’s happening, keeping them occupied with fun pictures and engaging activities.

Marie Forleo is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to building your entrepreneurial dream. She has the rep, the cred, the smarts.

Marie has trained countless women entrepreneurs successfully and maintains her personal style in her brand. Participants in her programs rave about her teaching style, content, and help.

I’d like to partner with Marie to put together a training program designed

to help girls ages 15 to 25 develop their entrepreneurial skill set and dream business.

Tammy Vitale has vast experience helping those who need that extra little push, coaching, and love to rewrite their life story.

Helping people make the changes they need to have the life they want is what she succeeds at.

I’d like to partner with Tammy to write a book designed to help women who have suffered from domestic violence and left that

situation to rebuild their lives in the areas of work, family, and love.

I love numbers, but not as much as Joseph. I’m not nearly as good with them as he is.

I admire the way Joseph is able to take raw data and make sense of it, not just from his perspective, but the perspective of the person who actually needs them. He’s able to use them to help them better their life.

I’d like to partner with Joseph to develop a workbook for women to teach them the basics of obtaining

this information, how to use it to get fair pay for the job they’re doing, and how to effectively present this information.

Domestic violence should be addressed at a very young age. Many children live in homes plagued by it, and many girls end up in violent relationships because nobody has taught them the warning signs, how to value themselves, and what resources are out there to help them.

I’d like to partner with CurrClick, a homeschool curricula developer and sales outlet, to develop courses and companion webinars designed to

address all of these issues in a very age-appropriate way for grades K-12.

the choiceI chose to work with the local domestic violence shelters in the end. I love all of the product ideas, but this one is close to my heart and one I’ve been thinking of for a long time. I’ve listed a few other reasons for my choice to the right.

The biggest hurdle to getting this project off the ground is securing funding to stock the workbooks. Nothing totally awesome was ever done without a bit of blood, sweat, and tears though.

sweet shelter: let’s chat about what’s going onThis workbook is designed for girls being admitted to shelters. With pink coil binding {not pictured} and a thick, glossy cover, each workbook is full of coloring pages, journal pages, games, stories, and other activities designed to help the child understand what’s going on as well as keep them occupied during the shelter admittance process.

Each SafeHouse {and other shelters} will stock a number of the workbooks to hand out when a child comes to the shelter. In addition, copies of the workbook will be sold through various retail sources to help parents who may not be entering a shelter but still need to explain what’s happening to their children as they leave their abusive household.

checks into a shelter.

When a parent has to flee an abusive home, so many things are racing through their mind:

where are we going next, will they come after us, how am I going to support us?

While they may feel that pang of sadness when thinking of how this is affecting their child,

there isn’t much time to talk it over, at least not in the heat of the moment.

The hurt is lessened to a degree when they see a reliable, trustworthy resource designed

specifically for their child and the situation they find themselves in.

Things are changing, they’re unsure of their safety, and they don’t know what will happen next. It’s scary and totally not fun.

A parent’s perspective is different from that of a child. This workbook is designed to speak to the child, touching on issues that they face and questions they have.
