The Child Education Society, the apex body of Bal Bharati Public Schools andother institutions of higher education, was set up in the year 1944 during thepre-independence era when the elders thought that Indian culture, heritage, traditionand ethos must be preserved and fostered and in order to achieve these objectives,it became obligatory for the Society to educate the young people. Thus, the Societywas registered under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860.

Today the affairs of the Society are managed by the Board of Management consistingof eminent educationists and social workers and headed by Sh. K.K. Khullar, aneminent educationist and a social worker as the President of the Society. Under hisdynamic leadership and with his team, the pace of expansion and development ofnew schools has greatly quickened in the recent years going up from just one schooland one institution (NTTI) till 1984 to as many as 3 Institutions, 12 schools with 4more to come up in the near future and 6 Project Schools in collaboration with theIndian Railways and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

Bal Bharati Public Schools are comprehensive, co-educational English mediumschools. Hindi enjoys its pride of place as the National Language in its curriculum.

ABOUT THE SCHOOLThe School, founded in the year 1944, isthe oldest and the largest among the chainof 17 educational institutions establishedby the Society. The School ispermanently affiliated with the CentralBoard of Secondary Education and alsopermanently recognised by the DelhiAdministration. It has two wings, one fromClass IV to XII at Ganga Ram HospitalMarg and the other Pre-School & PrePrimary (Montessori) to Class III at PusaRoad. The school has a total of 4858students on its rolls.

SCHOOL COMPLEXThe total covered area of the two schoolbuilding complexes at Ganga RamHospital Marg and at Pusa Road is around1.8 lakh sq. ft.

There are six multistoreyed blocks,one for Montessori, two for Primary (oneeach at Pusa Road & GRH Marg), andone block each for Middle, Secondaryand Senior Secondary Departmentswith spacious classrooms, well-equippedlaboratories, Computer rooms,Meal planning lab, Electronic lab, Math lab, Psychology lab, Audio Visual room,Workshops, Libraries, Language lab and rooms for creative activities such as art,painting, music and dance.

ADMINISTRATIONThe School Managing Committee is headed by Mr K K Khullar as Chairman,Mr L V Sehgal is the Principal and Mr J C Ajmani IFS (retd) is the Secretary(Manager). The Principal is supported by the Vice-Principal, Mrs Geeta Gangwaniand two headmistresses, Mrs S Mehta & Mrs Anita Garg as well as a team of experienced and qualified staff.

FOREIGN LANGUAGEToday education aims at being broad-based and eclectic and knowledge of a foreignlanguage is always considered an added qualification. The school has provision forteaching of German & French language at the Middle and Secondary levels. Thefacility of teaching other languages can be considered if there is sufficient demand.

NIE AND PACE PROGRAMMEThe Times of India & The Hindustan Times projects have been introduced toencourage students to read newspapers critically and make them aware of thesocial, economic and political events taking place in the country and around theworld.

has a Housemaster, Assistant

COMPUTER LITERACY

All students from Class II

onwards learn computer

language and operation.

There are four computer labs,

one each for Primary Pusa

Road, Primary GR Campus,

Middle, Secondary and Sr.

Secondary Classes. These

labs are air-conditioned and

equipped with the latest

generation of computers and

printers. Computer Science

has also been introduced as an elective subject at the + 2 level.

Financial and accounting operation, the Library operation and as well as examination

system and generation of results have been computerised, thereby streamlining

the school administration and management.

The project of computer-aided teaching is on the anvil and plans are afoot to implement

it in the session 2009 – 10 in selected classes. The school has also launched its

own web-site http://www.bbpsgr.edu.in which gives easy, online access to

information about the school students’ performance in academics and other activities.

ACADEMICSPRE-SCHOOL / PRE-PRIMARYAt the pre-primary level, educationalprogrammes based on Montessoriphilosophy and method are followed.There are 24 large well equipped traininghalls, where the tiny tots learn in aninformal way with the help of speciallydesigned apparatus under thesupervision and guidance of trained andexperienced teachers. Special attentionis paid to facilitate the physical, mental,emotional and social growth of the childthrough a series of well coordinated activities. There is no homework and everychild is allowed to progress at his/her own pace.

PRIMARYAt this stage formal teaching ofacademic subjects such as English,Hindi, Maths, Social Studies, GeneralScience and EVS is introduced. Stressis laid on balanced and harmoniousdevelopment based on a judicious mixof academics, creative art, physicaleducation, yoga, educational tours,excursions and outings.

A new concept of ‘Smart Class’ educationhas been incorporated into our EducationSystem for classes I to VI. This is acomputer aided mode that enhances thechild’s understanding of the variousconcepts of various subjects.

MIDDLEThere is an extension and fur therconsolidation of the educationalprogramme that starts at the primarystage. Besides the academic subjects,a third language is taught from Class VIto VIII. Students are encouraged toparticipate in creative arts such asdance, music and craft.

SECONDARY

Students are especially coached for the first Public Examination conducted by theCentral Board of Secondary Education.

SENIOR SECONDARYAt the plus two level, Science,Commerce and HumanitiesStreams are available along withEnglish as a core subject. TheScience stream offers PCMgroup with Biology/ComputerScience/Engineering Drawing/Psychology. In the Commercestream, the students have anoption of studying AdvancedAccountancy, Business Studies,Economics with eitherMathematics or Geography.There is provision of studyingEnglish, Hindi, Economics, Sanskrit, History, Psychology, Geography, Art andPainting and Physical Education in the Humanities stream.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

The school, which is one of the founder members of the ‘National ProgressiveSchools Conference’ is known for its high academic standard evident from theoutstanding performance of the students at the All India Examinations.

Every year a number of students distinguish themselves by gaining admission toreputed institutions such as IITs, DCE, Regional Colleges of Engineering, AIIMS,Delhi School of Planning and Architecture and the like.

Results of the school in Class X and Class XII Board Examinations have alwaysbeen of a high order.

PRE-SCHOOL

Admission is open to Pre-School (Montessori -I) class for children who attain theage of 3+ years as on 01.04.2010.

Since the concept of neighbourhood schools is gaining acceptance, preference willbe given to children who live near the school. Weightage is also given to thosewhose real brother or sister is studying in the school as well as to the wards ofex-students.

Criteria for admission is indicated at the last page and is also displayed on Schoolnotice board and website. Parents can register online at school website www.bbpsgr.edu.in Last date of registration is 06-11-2009.

Application forms will be screened and the list of selected candidates alongwith awaiting list will be put up on school notice board and school website on 21-11-2009at 2.00 pm.

EWS ADMISSIONS

10% of the seats i.e. 37 are reserved for economically weaker section. For admissionannual income of the parents should be upto one lac for a girl child, and uptoRs. 60,000/- for a boy child to qualify under this category. The parent has to submita certificate issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the area concerned to this effect.

Any left over seats out of the 5% seats reserved for staff wards will also be given tocandidates of EWS.

Admission is subject to verification of originals of birth certificate, proof of residenceand other relevant documents. Schedule for verification of documents will be put onnotice board and school website on 21-11-2009.

DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED WITH APPLICATION FORM TOBE FILLED IN BY SELECTED STUDENT.

(i) Attested photocopy of Municipal Birth Certificate (child).
