A Matou Tikanga: A Matou Tikanga for this week is: Making good choices about looking after our environment without being asked. This shows the value of Responsibility. Welcome: We welcome Hannah, Jacob and Nevayah who have started at our school. We look forward to a positive relationship with you, your family and the school. Nau mai, haere mai! Year 5/6 Camp: Most of our Year 5 and 6 students went to camp at PSYV in Whangaparaoa last week. They had a fantastic time learning new skills, overcoming challenges and taking on responsibility. They took part in a number of activities including a water slide, burma trail, archery, rifle shooting, wall-climbing and building shelters. Many thanks to the staff at PSYV for the use of the facilities and for keeping our hungry hordes well fed and, as always massive thanks to our whānau members who stayed with us and those who came up to help with activities during the day. A camp like this is a lot of work and we would not be able to give our children these experiences without your support, he mihi aroha ki a koutou. For more photos, refer to our school facebook page. EOTC - Junior School: Zoo Trip: The junior school trip to the zoo was highly successful despite the downpour of rain during the lunch time. This did not spoil our fun and we managed to see lots of exciting animals. All classes enjoyed their zoo activities and spent time in the zoo classroom learning about Keas, Giraffes and the jobs that happen at the zoo. A highlight enjoyed by all was riding the double decker bus. Thanks to all whanau who supported and came with us on the day. If you still owe money for the trip please get it into the office as soon as possible. EOTC - Year 4: This year in Week 6, our Year 4s ran, jumped, worked, played, ate and sang their way through a fantastic EOTC week. All of the activities were aimed at helping develop our Hauora - or wellbeing - in all areas: taha tinana (physical health), taha hinengaro (mental/emotional), taha whānau (relationships) and taha wairua (spirituality/values). One of the most amazing things about the week was seeing just how well our Y4s - and some fantastic older pupils - were able to work together and "muck in" to overcome obstacles. It was fantastic to see the children showing the values of whanaungatanga and rangatiratanga through the huge inflatable obstacle course, in the tug-of-war, bivvy building, the swimming pool and at our in-school sleepover. The children really did themselves, their school and their families proud. Finally, a huge thanks to all our support staff and school whānau who gave their time through the week and after school to make our events a success.
