If we were following a comedy brief, I'm 100% sure it would contain the words "be able to make audience laugh" but not everyone has the same sense of humour. • It's quite hard to think of a storyline, especially if we're only making the first 2 minutes of film. In my opinion, there isn't much action in the first 2 minutes of a comedy so we wouldn't reach the target. Sci-Fi Pros • The effects look amazing to the audience. The use of CGI (computer generated imagery) gives the audience a better feel of the setting. • The storylines can go on for quite a while, which is good for producers and directors. Comedy

Pros

• The location of a comedy can be absolutely anywhere; there are no restrictions to locations when creating a comedy.

• There are specific requirements of props for a comedy, it's the same as a location, you don't need specific

• If it's funny, then it's going to be fun to make, which is a pro to the crew and the audience!

Cons

• In contrast to the last point, some audience members might not find certain jokes funny.

Sci-Fi

Pros

• The effects look amazing to the audience. The use of CGI (computer generated imagery) gives the audience a better feel of the setting.

• The storylines can go on for quite a while, which is good for producers and directors. Films such as Star Wars have been stretched out to 6 films and are releasing their 7th later this year. The Jurassic Park franchises have 4 films out, and are releasing their next film in 2017. This means that not only do the filmmakers get themselves more money, but also fans of these films know that there are endless possibilities to their favourite films.

Cons

Page 2: Pros and Cons Genre

• Unfortunately, we can't afford all the fancy technology that can produce CGI and the amazing effects, so if we were to make a Sci-Fi, there wouldn't be any spaceships flying around.

• The location would also require special equipment like a green scene if it were set in outer space, or for the special effects too.

Horror

Pros

The storylines are also endless, no matter what happens as long as it is scary, anything can happen.

Costume design would be relatively easy to find as there are not necessarily any “flashy” clothes needed in a horror film.

There are not usually a lot of people needed in a horror, unless of course there is a mass scene such as a zombie apocalypse where there are obviously a lot of people required.

Cons

Props can be a problem to find if we were to make a horror. Usually there are weapons involved in these kinds of films, and they would quite hard to source.

It’s hard to find music and effects to go with a horror film. It’s very similar to my point about the Sci-Fi; we don’t have the technology to create different settings in the horror.

Not everyone gets scared easily, and because we have to take into consideration the ethics, we wouldn’t be allowed to have a young girl holding a knife.
