    EUTHANASIA

    Pros and Cons

Euthanasia, also called mercy killing or good death, is the act or practice of

ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable

condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical

    treatment.

Euthanasia can more helpfully be defined as the intentional killing by act ormission of a person whose life is felt to be not worth living.

We have three points for pros and three points for cons that will discussed about

    euthanasia.

    PROS :

    1. Another case of freedom of choice.

ome believe that every human, every patient, has a right to choose when

to die. We life in this era where freedom is upheld almost everywhere.

!nyways, voluntary euthanasia allows patients to make a re"uest if they

desires their life to be ended.

    2. Provides a a! to re"ieve e#treme $ain.

#eople who support euthanasia believe that allowing people to die with

dignity is kinder, than keep forcing them to continue their lives with

suffering. $oreover, several disease cant be cured yet, and patients with

reversible coma that have a low life expectancy.

    %. Contro""ed e&thanasia.

#roponents believe that euthanasia can be safely regulated by government

    legislation.

    CONS :

    2/3

    1. Ph!sicians and other medica" care $eo$"e sho&"d not 'e invo"ved in

    ca&sin( death.

Euthanasia is against the doctors oath. %octors oath is an oath taken by

physicians, essentially promising to use their knowledge to help, and

essentially improve the "uality of life. %octors are a symbol for care,

protection, and life. &f doctors begin contradicting their roles in society, the

bond between doctor and patient will be bad.

    2. A"ternative treatments.

!lternative treatments are available, such as hospices care. 'ospice care is

a type of care and philosophy of care that focuses on the palliationof a

chronically ill, terminally illor seriously ill patient(s pain and symptoms,

and attending to their emotional and spiritual needs . We do not have to kill

the patient to kill the symptoms.

    %. Never tr&"! contro""ed.

We could never truly control it. )pening the doors to voluntary euthanasia

could lead to non*voluntary and involuntary euthanasia, by giving doctors

the power to decide when a patients life is not worth living. &n the

+etherlands in -- around , patients were killed without their

re"uest. /his report proves, where euthanasia is legal, reveal that doctors

    do not always report it.

0ast but not least, we up to a conclusion that euthanasia shouldnt be a solution in

medical case. /here are so many other ways except of killing people. Euthanasia

is just a completion that appeared another problems.
