About AIESEC

Youth Empowerment is a project which is initiated by AIESECSri Lanka together with Sri Lankan Universities to enhance theskills and knowledge of university students and highereducational institutes in order to strengthen the culturalrelationship and international exposure through the AIESECinternship program: 12 foreign undergraduates will be joiningwith AIESEC to carry out the project in each of the highereducational institute premises.

Currently present in 6 universities, AIESEC in Sri Lanka providesan international platform for its members to discover anddevelop their potential. This global, non-political, non-pro�torganization is comprised of students and recent graduatesof these institutions of higher education, who are interested inworld issues, leadership, and management.

Youth Empowerment Project 4.0

AIESEC Colombo South will be organizing a Youth EmpowermentProject in Sri Lanka. The Project is for 6 weeks. The target groupwill be 1500 selected students from local Universities, otherhigher educational institutes, high schools and 12 internationalstudents/interns.

Duration: 6 Weeks from Mid Of February till Mid Of April

Project Objectives

- Develop the skills of the youth participating in the program - Exposure to difference cultures and learn from each other - Provide an opportunity for the interns to sharpen their presentation skills - Develop youth life skills to combat substance abuse - Networking and knowledge sharing

Project outline

The Project will be implemented for a period of 6 weeks providing18 internship opportunities to foreign exchange participants. Thetarget group will be 1000 selected students from the localUniversities and other higher educational institutes.

The Youth Empowerment Project is comprised of 2 phases. The �rst phase of the project will be in sessions, where youthempowerment sessions will be conducted in higher educationalinstitutes.

The Institutes are,

- University of Moratuwa - University of Peradeniya - Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka - Harrow International College - Strategy Institute - Apex Business Academy - ACBT - APIIT - Raffels


The sessions will be conducted by the resource persons from thecorporate sector and the international interns. The sessions willcover the following aspects:

- Getting to Know the External Environment - Being Socially Responsible - Being a Global Citizen- Leadership - Personal Development - Con�¬ict Management - Goal Setting

The second phase will be comprised of three major events

Leadership Development Program

These programs are aiming the potential leaders of High Schoolsin those two major cities. The ¬�rst session will be conducted bya well-known professional while the other sessions and the workshopwill be handled by the interns. This program is focused on potentialleaders of High Schools.

The targeted group is prefects of these major schools. Since thoseare the people who can make a big impact on the society. It isimportant to help them to improve their leadership skills and makesure that the society gets the best out of them.

There will be sessions and workshop to develop their leadershipqualities. Apart from it some important topics related to youth alsowill be discussed with the intention of providing the students a betterknowledge regarding them. There are so much outdoor activitiesas well where participants get a chance to get to know each other.

Audience: Prefects of major schools in Sri Lanka

Youth Empowerment Day

This is the main event of YEP 4.0 and it is scheduled to be held byend of March. We mainly focus on the youth who are in the vergeof entering the corporate world. The targeted crowd is the afterA/L students and University students. Sessions will be delivered byforeign interns, AIESEC alumnus experienced in training & resourcepersonnel from corporate sector.

There will be interactive sessions including breaking the ice,outbound activities .Participants will be divided into groups andthey'll be given various tasks and challenges. They will get thechance to meet share the experience of undergraduates fromforeign universities whom will be facilitating this event.

Our Objectives:

Audience: After A/L students, Undergraduates from Sri Lankangovernment universities and other higher educational institutes,AIESEC Colombo South members, foreign undergraduates andacademic staff of Sri Lankan universities.

Happy New Year with AIESEC

This event is directly related to the Sri Lankan New Year which isone of the major cultural events in Sri Lanka, along with traditionalgames & food. And for the event the Students of the Institutes & allmembers of AIESEC CS will participate. This will be a vitalopportunity for the students and interns to show their talents aswell as to showcase our culture to the international people.
