2.0 INDUSTRY IMMERSION PROJECT
2.1 OBJECTIVE
The industry immersion project is a way to bridge the gap between the expectations of the
industry and the students developed in business school, the project is designed to have
continuous evaluation and development of the student
The objectives of the project are as follows:-
To sensitize participants about industry dynamics, its cross Functional nature and
business realities at the grass root level
To help student obtain skills for:-
Team Building
Have relevant industry interaction
Facilitate the transition from traditional learning to problem based learning
2.2 CONCEPT
The program is structured taking into consideration the concept of immersion project. It revolves around a multi strategic approach. The basic purpose of this project is to Understand, Analyze, Map, Bridge, Integrate and Implement. The participants in the program will work as a cohort and in teams as they move from one trimester to other trimester
In the course of the project work, the group will undertake intensive and extensive research work with clearly defined objectives. At the end of the academic year, the students will prepare a project report which will encompass the analysis of the Industry, the Company and come out with Strategic recommendations.
The Break down of the project Credits are as follows:-
The evaluation of the project report will be done in four phases each phase will amount to 1 Credit and 2 credits will be awarded to the Internship

3.0 SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BUSINESS
3.1 RATIONALE:
Social Responsibility has become one of the key business trends of the past decade. The time is right for entrepreneurs to take up social challenges and to find innovative and inexpensive solutions for the same. Keeping this in mind, the best business schools across the globe emphasize beyond classroom learning which includes: Experimental learning, NGO projects, field immersions, and Social Responsibility of Business.
This course aims to develop an understanding of Social entrepreneurship and the social responsibility of business and help the student understand the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility in the field of management. When the students start associating the preliminary theory of management with social issues, they can understand the finer nuances of the concept of giving back to the society.
3.1 OBJECTIVES:
Looking at the current environment, students must be made sensitive towards sustainable development and the corporate social responsibility of business.
Taking this into consideration, KBS has designed a 6 credit syllabus for Social Entrepreneurship & Social Responsibility of Business in the PGDM curriculum
The main objectives of this course are:
With respect to students:
1. To encourage students to take up social challenges and look up social
entrepreneurship as a career opportunity.
2. To enhance the student’s sensitivity towards social responsibility of business.
3. To provide students an overview of the theory behind nonprofit organizations and
analyze key non profit contexts such as fund raising, the arts, education, healthcare,
volunteering, the public sector and the arena of social ideas.
4. To sensitize students about social issues.
5. To help students understand the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) from the perspective of management.
With respect to society:
1. To apply the principles of management for the betterment of the society.
2. To aid government and Non profit organizations in administration and strategy
building for proper functioning of social and community related services.
3. To help design strategies for various facets of social entrepreneurship such as fund
raising, marketing and auditing.
3.2 MODULE DESCRIPTION:
The 6 credits module is spread over 3 trimesters beginning in the 2nd trimester and running up to the 5th trimester. The module aims to familiarize students with concepts of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility of Business and their role in the betterment of the community; the practice and functioning of non profit organizations, the areas of contribution in which such organizations provide aid, and the role of Corporate Social Responsibility in organizations, its significance and impact in the current scenario.

Student Support and Progression is an essential ingredient in the KBS thought process. KBS
believes in stimulating the thought process through student’s centric activities and thereby
enhance the intellectual evolution of the students. All the activities of the Student Support and
Progression are broadly covered under:
a. Co-curricular activities: Includes areas like Group Discussion, Elocution Contest, Business
Quiz, Debates, Inter- Institute Competition etc.
b. Extra-curricular activities: Includes Inter-College Events, Seminars, Workshops, Education
and Recreation Trips.
c. Personality Development activities : Includes Aptitude Test, Mock Interviews, Guest lectures,
Communication Skills, Group Discussion, Business News Reviews and Presentation.
d. Holistic Development activities: Includes Managing the Stress, Issues related to Self, Help
Realize Realistic Goals, and Imbibe Patience.

Under this cell, activities towards the development of students are undertaken. An equal
opportunity is provided to the students to show case his or her innate cultural qualities, a feeling
of openness and a sense of belongingness towards the institution.
Major objectives:
1. To enable the students to be a part of not only academics but also of co-curricular activities.
2. To develop amongst the students a better understanding of their own abilities, capabilities,
talents and career goals. It is a combination of academic plus co-curricular.
3. To provide an opportunity to the students to participate in the out of classroom activities, help
them understand the importance of cultural diversity, intellectual competence, gain more self
confidence and appreciation of others.
Areas which fall under curricular committees are fresher’s get together, sports, festival activities,
women’s day, internal competitions etc.

B. STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CELL
KBS believes in Student’s Development and encourages them for participation in the
developmental activity.
Major objectives: 1. To encourage the students to participate in the extra-curricular and co-curricular
activities which are beyond the purview of classroom teaching.

C. SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BUSINESS
CELL (SE & SRB)
Social Entrepreneurship & SRB aims to encourage students to take up the social challenges and
provide social entrepreneurship as a career opportunity. The focus is on sensitizing the students
towards social responsibility of business. The cell strives to transform the young minds into
responsible citizens of tomorrow.
The cell is an ideal platform for students to gain the knowledge related to entrepreneurship and
social responsibility of business, understanding the consequences of decisions and actions taken
towards the society.
Major objectives:
1. To provide the conceptual knowledge.
2. To sensitize about the community surroundings.
3. To provide an opportunity to work with the corporate, NGO, Government and the society.
4. To make an impact in a small way.
5. To imbibe the ethical code of conduct.

D. CAREER PLANNING CELL
Institute believes in having Mentor-Mentee System. Mentor acts as a friend, a guide,
a counsellor and someone with whom one can share, exchange dialogue freely and
openly. However, all the matters discussions are kept confidential.
Major objectives:
1. To provide the academic support to the students.
2. To provide an opportunity for personal growth.
3. To provide a platform wherein, a Mentee can discuss personal matters, grievances and seek
guidance.
4. To have a regular interaction with the Mentee and the parents, if required, to apprise of
attendance, punctuality and performance.
5. To provide counseling and psychological resources if required.
Each faculty will act as a mentor to a group of students allocated by program heads and will
maintain information in the Student Planning & Progression Sheet (SP & PS format
attached). The Mentor will meet the student atleast once in 15 days and make a record note of
discussion in a precise bullet form and take corrective measures as and when required. The
Mentor will brief the Program Heads and the Director General about the progress of the Mentee.

skills, technical skills, outbound programs, and oral communication etc.

5.0 Examination and Grading
5.1 GRADING SYSTEM
At the end of each course, participants are awarded letter grades, which represent the weighted
average of marks obtained in various segments of evaluation
In addition, minus ( - ) signs against any of the above letter grades may be added to
indicate qualitative differences in performance. The numerical values of letter-grades along with
indications of levels of performance are as below :

We follow a system of relative grading. The grades awarded by faculty will follow the suggested
distribution indicated below for all courses that have a class size of more than 20 students.

PROMOTIONS FROM TRIMESTER I
(A) A participant should not get more than 4Fs in any of the subjects covered in
trimester I
(B) If a participant gets more than 4Fs in trimester I he fails year I
(C) The student failing year I will have to Re-Register for PGDM
PROMOTIONS FROM TRIMESTER II
(A) A participant should not get more than 4Fs in any of the subjects covered in
trimester II
(B) If a participant gets more than 4Fs in trimester II he fails year I
(C) A Participant who gets more than 4Fs in Trimester I and Trimester II combined
will fail year I
(D) The student failing year I will have to Re-Register for PGDM
PROMOTIONS FROM TRIMESTER III
(A) A participant should not get more than 4Fs in any of the subjects covered in
trimester III
(B) If a participant gets more than 4Fs in trimester III he fails year I
(C) A Participant who gets more than 4Fs in Trimester I, Trimester IIand Trimester III
combined will fail year I
(D) The student failing year I will have to Re-Register for PGDM
PROMOTION TO SECOND YEAR AND AWARD OF CERTIFICATE
(A) Clearing of all examinations in subjects covered in Year- I
(B) Clearing the Comprehensive Exam at the end of the trimester III is necessary for
promotion to the Second Year
(C) A student should secure atleast 50% in his VIVA for IIP
PROMOTIONS FROM TRIMESTER IV
(A) A participant should not get more than 3Fs in any of the subjects covered in
trimester IV
(B) If a participant gets more than 3Fs in trimester IV he fails year II
(C) The student failing year II will have to Re-Register for PGDM
PROMOTIONS FROM TRIMESTER V
(A) A participant should not get more than 2Fs in any of the subjects covered in
trimester V
(B) If a participant gets more than 2Fs in trimester V he fails year II
(C) A Participant who gets more than 3Fs in Trimester IV and Trimester V combined
will fail year II
(D) The student failing year II will have to Re-Register for PGDM
TO QUALIFY FOR THE AWARD OF DIPLOMA
The Student should clear all his Fs to be awarded the degree
For promotion / graduation, an F in any course is treated as full F irrespective of whether
the course weight age is full credit or half credit or more than one credit.
In exceptional cases, an instructor may award the grade ‘I’ (Incomplete) to a participant if
in the judgment of the instructor, the participant has not satisfied of the pre-specified
academic requirements of the course.
A participant who fails to complete the academic requirement of a course (in which
participant may have obtained an “Incomplete” grade) will be deemed to have not
qualified for promotion to subsequent year/term or the award of certificate unless and
until a participant is able to complete the requirements within the specified period.
It is the participant’s responsibility to satisfactorily complete all the academic
requirements including the minimum number of credits for the awards of certificate.
Any Student who has a F in the course can be awarded a maximum of C as a grade for
the degree
Anybody found indulging in unfair means during the course of an examination or any
other academic proceedings that may be revealed at a later point of time, shall be
awarded ‘F’ Grade in that particular course in addition to initiation of disciplinary action.
The final decision taken will depend on the severity of the act and may even lead to
rustication. The decision of the Director General / Program Head / Academic Committee
will be final and binding on the participant.
The grades given by a faculty on any segment of evaluation are final. The faculty will
not be called upon to justify the grades. A student who wants clarification of his / her
grade must re-submit their answer sheets for re-evaluation with PGDM office.
