is stored at the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
261-P01 FIBER ROLLS: Use fiber rolls that are composed of netting that meets either of the following:
- Plastic or natural fiber photodegradable netting that has a life expectancy between
12 to 24 months. If the photodegradable netting is plastic, the netting color must be either clear or green. Use no black plastic netting.
- 100 percent biodegradable jute netting that has a life expectancy between 6 to 12 months.
401-P01 FOG COAT: Fog seal after final rolling with a minimum mat temperature of
125 degrees F. 401-P02 SURFACE TREATMENT: Prime or pave each subgrade repair location within 48
hours of completing the repair.
If the contractor elects to prime these areas, apply a double application of prime and blotter to each subgrade repair location. Include the cost for blotter in the price bid for “Prime”.
411-P01 TEMPORARY ASPHALT WEDGES: Construct and maintain temporary asphalt
wedges at milled locations. Place wedges at these milled areas prior to traffic being allowed on the milled roadway section. Include all costs associated with installing, removing, and maintaining wedges in the price bid for “Milling Pavement Surface.”
430-P01 COMPACTION: Compaction of all asphalt pavement placed in subgrade repair areas
will meet the requirements of 430.04 I.2 “Calculated Density”, with a sublot being defined as each lift at each subgrade repair area. The applicable lifts of mainline paving over these areas will be incorporated in with the mainline paving compaction testing.
430-P02 CONTRACTOR CORING: Apply a tack coat on all sides of the asphalt pavement
core holes before patching the core locations. Include all costs for tacking cores holes in the bid price for “SUPERPAVE FAA 42”.
704-P01 TRAFFIC CONTROL: Provide traffic control consisting of a temporary road closure,
flagging, pilot car and shoulder closures. The traffic control device list has been developed using the layouts shown in the plans and the following layouts shown on the Standard Drawings.
1. D-704-15 Layout Type A: For the subgrade repairs, sliver grading, placement of
aggregate base and paving. Two temporary road closures, two pilot car signs, four arrays of portable rumble strips and four flaggers have been provided.
2. D-704-20 Layout Type G as the basis of the Terminal Signing and Intersecting Routes.
3. D-704-22, Type K and L: For construction trucks hauling material.
4. D-704-24, Type R: For the construction of the pipe extensions. Two shoulder closures have been provided. A quantity of 42 tubular markers have been provided for each 1/2 mile work area. Use W20-1-48 in place of G20-1a-60.
5. D-704-26 Layout Type EE: For project termini (2 locations).
6. D-704-26 Layout Type GG: For uneven lanes when paving (each bound).
7. D-704-26 Layout Type JJ: For 4 subcut locations (each bound). 8. D-704-56: For installation of rumble strips. Traffic control quantities for uneven pavement have been developed based on a 6 mile limitation for the paving operations. The required traffic control signs and devices are included in the "Traffic Control Devices List" and will be measured and paid at the contract unit price for each device.
704-P02 TRAFFIC CONTROL: Maintain a minimum of one lane of traffic open to public travel during subgrade repair operations. At the end of the working day, open the roadway to two-way traffic with a minimum 24’ wide driving surface and 4:1 compacted and traversable foreslopes or flatter. No drop-off greater than 2 inches will be permitted. If two-way traffic cannot be obtained, maintain a minimum 15’ wide driving surface with flagging and pilot car until two-way traffic operation conditions can be met. No additional payment to be made for flagging operations outside of working hours.
704-P03 PORTABLE RUMBLE STRIPS: Provide rumble strips made of rubber or engineered
polymers. Rumble strips may be composed of interlocking segments, have a hinge at the midpoint, or consist of a single piece. Meet the following criteria for the rumble strips:
Use a minimum of 3 strips in each array. Have no adhesives or fasteners required for placement. Manufacturer speed rating shall meet or exceed the posted speed. Weight of strip must be a minimum of 100 lbs.
Move rumble strips with the flagging operation. Do not place rumble strips on horizontal curves. The Engineer will count and measure each array as one. Include the cost of obtaining, installing, maintaining, and relocating the portable rumble strips in the unit price bid for “Portable Rumble Strips”.
