Zentangle Still Life: The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on each stroke and not worry about the result. There is no up or down to Zentangle art. In fact, you can most easily create Zentangle art by rotating your page as you tangle -- always keeping your hand in a relaxed position. You don't need to know what a tangle is going to look like to draw it. You just need to know the steps. The result is a delightful surprise. STILL LIFE

Zentangle Still Life:

The Zentangle method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.

Work to be completed:

I would like you to create a Zentangle ‘Still Life’.

Choose what object you will draw and then sketch it out.

You should start to add in your Zentangle pattern for the background. The zentangle should be developed with minimum of 5 patterns with lots of white space and 5 with lots of dark space.

Once you are happy with your drawing and background pattern, using a sharpie or black pen to go over all the lines.

Add colour using colouring pencils, paint or felt tip.

Assessment:

Assessing your own work will be based on the above criteria, in relation to proportion, detail, likeness and how you have used line and different mediums for texture and tone.

The pattern you create for the background should be busy and have lots of different shapes and lines.

Shading should include a wide range of mark making.
