“Book Works Reading Site”

Purpose

This is to inform primary schools about the arrangement to access the “Book Works

Reading Site” through desktop computers and tablets.

Details

2. The “Book Works Reading Site” (the Site) was launched by EDB in 2004, aiming at

arousing students’ interest in reading and helping them develop good reading habits. In order

to lessen the administrative workload of schools in managing students’ accounts, EDB has

relocated the Site to HKEdcity in January 2015. Students can now login to the Site (URL:

http://resources.edb.gov.hk/cd/lib/bookworks/) directly via their HKEdcity accounts* either

through desktop computers or tablets.

3. Besides supporting schools to help students develop good reading habits, it also

enables schools to get information on students’ utilisation rate of the Site. Teacher-librarians,

being the school administrators of the Site, can access the “Book Works School

Administrators’ Page” through secured password to export such data for analysis.

4. Schools that wish to apply for the administrator password should complete Appendix

8a and fax to 2304 5258 on or before 15 December 2015 (Tuesday). The administrator

passwords will be sent via emails within 7 working days. (Schools that have already received

the administrator password in January 2015 need not apply).

Library Section, Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau at 3698 4422.
