Updated 7/24/2013 - Page 1 of 8 PROJECTWISE ACCESS VIA INTERNET EXPLORER ProjectWise Web Access – Browser Setup and Login Objective: This document outlines the setup and configuration required for Internet Explorer 9 that will enable it to successfully access project information being hosted on Sutter’s ProjectWise Network. You may need to be an administrator on the workstation to perform the following steps. Note 1: Microsoft Internet Explorer must be used as the web browser; other browsers such as Firefox and Netscape are not supported. If I.E. 10 is being used, Compatibility Mode must be enabled for the Website noted below. Note 2: At any time during the following steps, if a message appears asking that Active X Controls or Plug-ins be installed, please Select OK or YES and Install the plug-ins. Getting Started: Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer and Navigate to the location http://sutterpw.ghafari.com STEP 1: Disable all Pop-up Blockers From the Internet Explorer menu, Select Tools Pop-up Blocker Turn Off Pop-up Blocker Note: There are several add-on applications, such as the Google Toolbar, that have their own pop-up blocking tools; please be sure to disable all pop-up blocking tools. STEP 2: Download and Install the ProjectWise Web Components Bentley Systems provides an installer containing Active X plug-ins that are required to successfully access a ProjectWise network using Internet Explorer. 2a. Using Internet Explorer, Browse to the Sutter ProjectWise Web Server URL: http://sutterpw.ghafari.com 2b. Click the link Installation & Support shown below.

2c. Click the link ProjectWise Web Server V8i (SELECTseries 4) ActiveX Components and Download the installer.

2d. Once the download is complete from Step 2c above, Browse to the installer, Double Click on it, and Select Run.

2e. Accept the license agreement by Clicking the check box for “I accept the terms6”, then Select Install. Once the installer is finished, Select Finish as shown below.

STEP 3: Configure I.E. 10 Security Settings – Trusted Sites Sutter’s Website must be added to the I.E.10 Trusted sites list to properly display the site’s content. 3a.From the Internet Explorer Menu, Select Tools ���� Internet Options

3b. From the Internet Options dialog, Select the Security tab, then Select the Trusted sites option, and finally Click the Sites button.

3c. Click on and deselect the check box for Require server verification6. Next, Type http://sutterpw.ghafari.com in the text box as shown below. Now, Click the Add button, Click the Close button, and then Click the OK button. Finally, Press the F5 key.

Note: Sutter’s ProjectWise web address should now be added to your Trusted sites as shown below.

STEP 4: Login to ProjectWise Return to the web server login page http://sutterpw.ghafari.com

� Click on the location dropdown arrow and Select Sutter Projects - Web Server as shown below.

� Type in your ProjectWise User Name and Password, Click Login.

A Successful Login Screen is Shown Below

You should now be ready to use ProjectWise.

Appendix A: Trouble Shooting If your login was not successful or you received an error message mentioning a “6.File Transfer Control.6” please make the following Internet Explorer security settings changes. You may need to be an administrator on the workstation to perform the following steps.

A1: Adding the Local Machine to the Trusted Sites List The local computer may need to be added to the list of Trusted sites. Following the same instruction found in Step 3 of this document, Add about:blank to the list of websites as shown below.

A2: Changing the ActiveX and Scripting Security Settings If you continue to encounter File Transfer Control error messages, make the following changes to the security settings for ActiveX Controls and Scripting.

A2a. From the Internet Explorer Menu, Select Tools ���� Internet Options

A2b. From the Internet Options dialog, Select the Security tab, then Select the Custom level6 button.

A2c. Check that the Security Settings within ActiveX controls and plug-ins match the settings shown

below; make any necessary changes.

� Allow Scriptlets = Prompt

� Automatic prompting for… = Enable

� Binary and script behaviors – Enable

� Display video and animation – Disable

� Download signed ActiveX controls = Prompt

� Download unsigned ActiveX controls – Disable

� Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as

safe for scripting – Disable

� Only Allow approved… = Enable

� Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins = Enable

� Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting =

Enable

A2d. Check that the Security Settings within Scripting match the settings shown below; make any

necessary changes.

A2e. Next, you will need to Click two OK buttons to close the open dialog boxes. Finally, Press the F5

key.
