Senior Planning ConsultantThe Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced planning consultant to join the TEP Planning team in our Warrington office, supporting our business nationally. We also will consider the role based in our London office.

The Planning team has a broad range of clients active across the UK working on a wide range of spatial planning projects. The successful candidate will work with energy generation and infrastructure firms, private and public sector land developers covering the promotion of both brownfield and Greenfield sites for large to medium scale residential, commercial and mixed use developments.

Role and Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in planning consultancy who proactively helps clients to deliver their projects through providing consistent professional advice.

You will have demonstrable experience in leading or co-ordinating planning projects and environmental assessments to support development. Individuals need to demonstrate a working knowledge of environmental assessment with either an appreciation of or experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

An important part of the role is managing projects for clients, reporting clearly and developing strong relationships where you are the day-to-day contact trusted to deliver high quality documents on programme and within budgets.

You should have a good appreciation of town planning with practical experience in residential and infrastructure development being able to demonstrate skills in analysis, report-writing, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder consultation.

You will be asked to help mentor and develop junior staff on projects as well as providing general planning advice to colleagues across TEP’s multi-disciplinary practice. You will be well-supported by colleagues and encouraged to innovate where appropriate to enhance our delivery to clients.

The successful candidate will be based in our Warrington or London office but will be expected to travel from time to time, including staying overnight at different locations, to meet the requirements of projects.

It is essential that candidates:

Have achieved Membership of RTPI (or are eligible). Have proven planning experience with knowledge of residential and infrastructure

schemes. Have experience in the delivery of planning applications including the preparation of

Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements and co-ordination of environmental and technical reports.

Can demonstrate experience of negotiating on draft conditions with authorities and discharging conditions post consent.

Can demonstrate project management skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Have strong communication skills and confident in presentation. Can provide consistent professional advice in utilising permitted development rights

and development plan policies to assist clients. Have client and stakeholder liaison skills including experience of community

consultation events. Are self-motivated and interested in business development. Show attention to detail, uphold high standards and demonstrate good judgement Able to work independently and work well with others as part of a team Have computer literacy in MS Office, Excel, Word and Outlook. Hold a full driving licence.
