SUMIGRE’S PROGRESS
The SUMIGRE project
As the SUMIGRE project comes to an end this
August, project partners are now finishing their
project activities and summarizing the results for the
final reports. During the two-year project period,
partners from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic,
Hungary, The Netherland, Turkey and the UK have
worked on supporting the professional
development of migrant-related educators, raising
public awareness, and building a network of NGOs,
adult education providers, public authorities and
policy makers to raise the public awareness of the
project theme, secure their commitment and
increase cross sectoral collaboration. By the end of
the project two intellectual outputs, the Migration
Report and the Training Curriculum on the E-
Learning Platform have been developed and
disseminated to a wide range of audience.
In this final Newsletter, the readers can learn more
about the SUMIGRE project activities that have been
carried-out in the final months of the project.

Training Curriculum and the E-Learning Platform
In the third SUMIGRE Newsletter, we introduced the
training of migrant-related educators which was
under development at that time. The E-Learning
Platform and Training Curriculum became available
in May 2019. The on-line training is available in six
languages: English, Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch,
Hungarian, and Turkish. The 30-hour Training
Curriculum is organised around seven modules and
three annexes. The Platform is user-friendly, after a
quick registration the ‘student’ can choose the
training course in the preferred language and enroll
in the course. Each module has specific learning
outcomes, and they can be used either as a complete
programme or trainees can select single modules to
study according to their needs.
The seven modules are the following:
Human Rights of Migrants
Intercultural Awareness
Intercultural Competences
Intercultural Communication
Addressing Discrimination in Education
Training in Entrepreneurship
Second Language Teaching in Migrant Education
The training helps educators to recognize their
strengths and weaknesses, existing skills, needs and
expectations. On the completion of the course, it is
hoped that migrant-related educators will be
empowered to manage diversity better in their work
place by adapting their work to individual learning
needs and by acquiring new skills and competences.
Users are asked to complete a course evaluation survey upon
completion of the training. According to the feedbacks so far,
the SUMIGRE E-Learning materials are received very well by the
users. They find the relevance of the module subjects, clarity of
the content, module volume, pedagogical approach and
suitability of the quiz questions as the best aspects.
The E-Learning Platform will remain available for the public for
at least two years after the end of the project.

The 6th Transnational Meeting in Budapest
The 6th and last Transnational SUMIGRE Meeting took place
in Budapest between 20 and 21 June 2019. The partners were
welcomed by IOM Budapest. During the two days of works,
the discussions were focused on the recently launched E-

related educators is now available in 6 languages (English,
Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, Hungarian and Turkish), and the
multiplier events held in the participating countries.
Project partner BDF presented the preliminary results of the
evaluation of the multiplier events and the E- Learning
Platform. Some time was also dedicated to the preparation of
the 4th Newsletter. KOGED, as the project coordinator,
explained to the partners the requirements for the final
report. It was agreed that the most important task for the final
months of the project is to continue the dissemination
activities at local/regional, national and European level to
ensure the sustainability of the SUMIGRE intellectual outputs
(Migration Report and Training Curriculum).
