Project management of geographically dis-tributed consortia is typically not sup-ported by current soft-ware systems. Al-though efficient pro-ject management is crucial for the success of a project, available tools suffer from error-prone and de-

layed reporting. • Ressource management: Continuous control-ling of resources and plans.

• Meeting management: Support of meeting organisations, including document, agenda, presentation and discussion management.

• Document management: Administration, distri-bution and archiving of all project relevant documents

• To-Do-List management: Definition of tasks and responsibilities as well as monitoring the work progress

• Hour and cost reporting: Creation of hour and cost reports in customisable formats (EU compliant forms for all necessary reports availa-ble) for the customer as well as for internal bookkeeping.

• Cost und status report generator: Based upon the collected information, cost and status reports can be generated automatically at any time.

An interactive and self explaining user interface supports the user in learning how to work with the application. A comprehensive user access manage-ment ensures that each partner can only view and edit the information that he/she needs to carry out the tasks he/she is responsible for. BAL.®PM runs on Windows PCs as well as on all common mobile devices.

BALance offers the database driven Internet application BAL.®PM as a service (ASP) that supports the project manager as well as the project partners in the successful management of research projects.
