STADTHALLEProject Karlsruhe 2.02.0

EDITORIALThe green light has been given: conversion work on the Stadthalle has been underway since July 2017.

Cutting-edge technology, an innovative lighting concept, and numerous fresh ideas await the centrepiece of the

Karlsruhe Convention Centre, ensuring that the evocative location on Festplatz remains the perfect venue for

international conventions and big events in the future, too.

We’re very pleased about the city’s clear commitment to its conference venue in the heart of its centre –

the biggest inner-city convention complex in Germany. In one of the strongest economic regions in Europe.

And in a rapidly developing city. A city in which technology and art, economic growth and quality of life are not

diametrically opposed but cornerstones of integrated urban development – Karlsruhe 2020.

But don’t worry: you don’t have to wait that long. Whilst the Stadthalle is being brought up to date, we can still

provide three ideal venues for company meetings, big conventions, and top concerts right next door in the form

of the Gartenhalle, Schwarzwaldhalle, and the Konzerthaus.

And, of course, we’ll keep you up to date on the progress of the conversion work. On our website and on Face-

book you’ll find the current state of play. Or take a look for yourself on location at the info-point on Festplatz.

Join us in looking forward to the Stadthalle in a whole new light!

Britta Wirtz – KMK managing director

WHERE YOURSLOGANS SHINE

The historical façade remains, but (almost) everything behind it will be new. High-quality fixtures are being

refurbished. The open foyers will soon be gleaming even more brightly than before. The halls’ stages and walls

will glow in fresh colours. And naturally we’re committed to Karlsruhe as a high-tech powerhouse: using state-

of-the-art technology and energy-saving systems.

The Stadthalle presents itself in the very best light. And we mean that quite literally: the sophisticated lighting

concept is a genuine asset. Whether daylight simulation or a festive gala atmosphere – we create just the right

light for your specific event. Throughout the whole building, at any time, and with the greatest energy efficiency:

lines of LEDs transform the central marble cube with its chamfered edges into a compelling media wall. Mobile

illuminated furniture and the digital signage system add the finishing touches to the staging of your event.

And best of all: all the players can be transformed with a click.

The new Stadthalle speaks one language: yours!

SMART TECHNOLOGY – A POWERFUL IMPACT

The new Stadthalle is full of dynamism. For your benefit. And for your guests: our digital signage system makes

child’s play of finding your way around. WLAN/WiFi throughout the building provides direct access to the Inter-

net. And the cutting-edge event technology not only performs brilliantly – it looks fantastic too! The star behind

the scenes is the integrated media system in which all components interact.

Media wall and signage system, functional lighting, and light effects – every element can be set individually.

Thus, every detail can be customised to suit your planning, from the welcoming message to the ambient

lighting. A standardised interface makes the whole system easy to control.

So smooth running is assured, leaving you time for the essential elements: your message. Display your

corporate identity, clearly and coherently from the colour of the lighting to the appropriate door sign. Decide

which contents you want to show. And when. Pictorial motifs, fonts, lighting colours – our integrated media

system stores your stage directions. And, with just a click, then runs them on all surfaces: on illuminated

furniture and media wall, from digital signage to stage spotlight.

THE FINAL TOUCH: LIGHT IN ALL ITS FACETS

No matter whether you play out your event in the whole Stadthalle or a single hall: your event sets the tone

for perfect orchestration in which everything goes hand in hand. An undeniable highlight: the new lighting

concept. Perfectly coordinated interaction of digital components, decorative lighting, and signage system to

produce relaxing lighting or to stimulate focussed work. Dimmable and energy-efficient.

And you are the director: you decide the mood of the lighting and its colour for every moment of your event.

Diffused mood lighting or clear points of emphasis – be inspired, for when it comes to light, the new Stadthalle

is real quick-change artist.

You’d like to structure the foyers? Illuminate individual areas or darken certain sections of the hall? No problem.

But we can do much more: light animations, for example, that radiate from inside to the outside or sparkle on

the ceiling. Waves of light that illuminate the way to the entrances. A change of light with an appropriate gong

for theatre evenings. And we can create a genuine cloudy sky as well.

Some call it a unique selling point. We say: mood lighting at the press of a button.

EVERYTHINGUNDER ONE ROOF

The Stadthalle is a complete convention centre in its own right. Perfectly suited to a wide range of formats –

be it international conferences coupled with an exhibition or parallel events in a smaller circle.

Whatever you want to create a setting for: use the unique atmosphere of the Stadthalle. The colonnaded porch

provides the impressive introduction to your event. The bright foyers are spacious. And the individually controllable

lighting system transforms every room in the perfect backdrop. Full acoustic separation, interpreters’ booths,

digital signage system, high-performance WLAN/WiFi – nothing is left to be desired as respect of technology either.

Karlsruhe’s Stadthalle provides versatile space for up to 4,000 visitors:

• 5 event halls

• 16 seminar rooms

• 5 conference rooms

• 3 foyers

10

Project Karlsruhe 2.02.0Brahms-Saal (simulation)

Offering five different halls, the Stadthalle is the perfect venue for any event. Conference or banquet, concert or

lecture. They’re all equipped with superb technology for sound and stage. For every event format to come into

its own, however, it’s essential that rooms are flexible. As they are in the Stadthalle: we simply adapt the frame

to suit your specific requirements.

High-quality LED downlights guarantee the best quality of light in all rooms. Custom-made lighting fixtures

accentuate exciting highlights.

Concealed from view in the airy ceiling structure of the Brahms-Saal, for example, is an ingeniously

engineered LED system: bright lamellas surround the building’s biggest hall, and the built-in illumination

provides subtle and inventive lighting effects.

Illuminated domes put the Weinbrenner-Saal in the right light: the specially designed lighting fixtures allow

plenty of scope for plays of light – white or in colours, it’s up to you.

UNIQUELY VERSATILE.KARLSRUHE CONVENTION CENTRE.

The Stadthalle is reinventing itself. But not everything is changing. Our great location, for example. In combi-

nation with the Konzerthaus, the Schwarzwaldhalle, and Gartenhalle, we provide ample space for a wide range

of formats right in the heart of Karlsruhe. From music to meetings, from sport to theatre. But don’t worry, you

can simply unwind for a while here, too, in the zoological gardens right next door.

What else distinguishes our location from others? Smart people, for example! From the fields of law and

technology. Medicine and politics. Commerce and industry. All woven into a sustainable network to ensure that

expertise in science and research is pooled to become a powerful driving force for business. Like the IT cluster,

which shines with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology – with more than 4,000 IT companies of distinction. Art

and media have not been overlooked either: at the ZKM and Staatliche Kunsthalle, our finger is on the pulse of

culture.

We’re not only right up close. But right in the middle: in the heart of Europe. For that’s where Karlsruhe lies,

with perfect road, rail and air links. Offering inspiring surroundings, too. Savoir-vivre is a matter of course in

Baden: from beer gardens to award-winning cuisine, from the Upper Rhine to the Alsace region of France.
