Executive Summary

This deliverable is one of two specific deliverables on dissemination and outreach materials and describes the status of the task 5.2 “Construction, posting, updating and positioning of a public access TERRINet Website”, part of the work package 5 of the TERRINet Project: “Scientific Dissemination & Outreach”, led by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

The output of this task will be the definition of the TERRINet website graphics and contents. To achieve the expected results, this task was assigned to an external advertising company, which developed the entire structure of the website, its graphic interface and the user experience design. All the contents instead, were created by the TERRINet team and are continuously improved.

This document aims at providing some general outlines for the development of the TERRINet website, defining its implementation strategies and scope. The TERRINet website will be used as the official tool to inform users about the project, its objectives, the details about the calls and all the activities proposed by partners.

1 TERRINet website

The TERRINet website has two main goals: 1. to be the users’ reference point about TERRINet and every other information concerning

the project; 2. to be an exchange platform for the Consortium members through a private area.

The entire website has been structured in order to be dynamic, with a good graphics appeal, responsive and user-friendly. We know that the website is often the first contact point with a possible user: for this reason, we spent great efforts to have a good User Experience design. The website is hosted on a Linux server and is possible reach it at this URL: www.terrinet.eu. The entire website is based on the last Wordpress release: this choice offers a website with a very easy maintenance and update, that can be done directly by the TERRINet team. The graphic design is based on Applauz, a professional theme bought specifically for this application and customized to fit the corporate identity specifications.

1.1 Public pages

1.1.1 Home page The website home page is the very first contact with the users: for this reason, it was decided to have a quick outlook of the entire project, with catchy messages created to attract the attention of the visitor. The first slideshow carries out this work: composed by titles, buttons, counters and numbers gives a direct access to the most important areas of the website. Then the homepage is structured as a main collector of the website contents: here it is possible to find the most relevant information from each website pages.

1.1.2 Infrastructures This page aims at giving a clear overview on which infrastructure users can choose to develop their robotics research. Since TERRINet project offers a Transnational access, is fundamental to show our users where all the TERRINet infrastructures are located. This page has been created with this purpose: an interactive Europe map with clickable pins shows the location of every single infrastructure. By clicking on the pins, it is possible to have other information about the selected infrastructure.

1.1.2.1 Infrastructure single page The infrastructure single page shows the details about it. It contains the name of the selected infrastructure, its logo and the logo of the related university, all the contact details, a photo gallery, a general description of the structure and a detailed list of every available platforms with key features and possible application. It has a right sidebar which contains four buttons, for a quick link to other website sections, and the entire list of infrastructure sites.

1.1.3 Access Access page is intended to be the core of the website since it gives all the necessary information that user need to apply to project calls. This page contains details about the access process, to whom the calls are oriented, infrastructures available and the requested steps to be fulfilled, in order to correctly apply to project calls.

In all the other website pages it is often possible to find a direct link to this page, via a “call to action” button.

1.1.4 Dissemination Dissemination page has been built to contain all the news concerning the project. It has a right sidebar containing a search module, the latest four news, categories and archives.

1.1.5 Project In this page it is possible to find all the information about the project: name and logo, aims and goals, general objectives, expected impact and the detailed project info.

1.1.6 Consortium In this section, it is possible to find information about all the Consortium members. Each university has its logo, acronym, extended name, headquarters country and official website link.

1.1.7 Deliverables Deliverables page presents the nine Work Packages of the TERRINet project. It shows the complete work packages list with a short description, and then each WP has its own section containing the related documents.

1.1.8 Contacts This is a classical contact page, with a contact form and the contact information of The BioRobotics Institute as Project Coordinator.

1.1.9 Credits Credits page collects credits for all the media content included in the website.

1.2 Private area The TERRINet website has been designed to share data among beneficiaries. For this reason, a private area has been created: it is a password protected shared folder, hosted to the Sant’Anna ownCloud cloud storage service. Inside this folder, every member of the Consortium can find all the project official documents.

2 Conclusions This report describes the first version of the TERRINet project website. As explained previously, the website content is meant to be changed over time in order to be always aligned with the latest information about the TERRINet project.
