2 Dissemination Strategy and Key Targeted Stake-
holders
Under the lead of FOKUS, all PRODUCER partners have been involved in dissemination and communica-tion activities in order to ensure the wide spread of PRODUCER activities and project results among the identified target audiences in a timely manner and via appropriate methods.
The dissemination and communication strategy of the PRODUCER project aimed in raising awareness on the project’s objectives, expected results and general impact in the documentary production industry. Towards this end in their first phase the project’s dissemination and communication activities have fo-cused on generating appropriate material and project branding as well as establishing presence in the web and social media. In parallel the identification of targeted stakeholders took place and the list of the key stakeholders is as follows:
• Industry: production companies, broadcasters, media agencies, video library/archive managers
• Researchers and technical experts: researchers, security scientists, research institutes, aca-demic organizations, universities and technical colleges, scientific institutes with active interest in image detection and recognition, advanced video streaming technology, social media analytics and recommen-dation technology.
• General public and end-users: audiences interested in the documentary film genre.
In the second phase the dissemination activities have been focused in promoting broad visibility and accessibility to all the project’s activities not only through the established social and web channels but more actively and directly through the participation in workshops, conference and primarily in industry events for the presentation of project outcomes and results and particularly of the expected benefits of the PRODUCER toolkit for documentary producers.
Throughout the project’s implementation, a wide range of channels have been used, as presented in the sections below.

3 Logos
Even though PRODUCER is an ICT project, it needs to work in close relationship with its intended target and user group, namely the producers of documentaries. With this background, the logo avoids IT specific elements, but incorporates a stylized camera, still the main working tool in documentary production, into the logo design. The word PRO is visually separated from the rest of the logo, indicating the relevance of the project not only to producers, but also implying all professionals in the documentary production domain as its primary target group. The visual separation of DU and CER does not confer any specific meaning, but only serves to give the logo a more balanced appearance.
Figure 1: Final Producer Logo
An earlier design of the logo (as depicted in Figure 2) demonstrates this visual imbalance.
Figure 2: Early Logo Design
Supplementing the main PRODUCER logo, the project also decided early on a set of logos for the tools integrated in the PRODUCER toolkit. As PRODUCER covers the whole workflow from pre-production to production to post-production and it was important that the applications were still easily recognizable as belonging to the same set of tools, while still maintaining a distinct, individual look. The tool icons also needed to be visually robust, so they could easily be adapted into lower resolution on-screen icons and buttons without losing their distinct appearance. All tool icons share features like rounded corners and simple black/white design.

4 Website
The first two deliverables of the PRODUCER project were related to dissemination activities. Deliverable 5.1 concerned the project flyer, which is covered in the next section, while Deliverable 5.2 covered the project website.
The PRODUCER web presence is at producer-project.eu, as the preferable producer.eu and producer.org domains were no longer available. An internal discussion at the kick-off meeting resulted in the selection of producer-project as the name part of the URL, with a slight preference for the .eu domain over the .org domain.
The PRODUCER web page is based on the popular WordPress CMS.
Figure 4: PRODUCER website landing page
The primary structure of the website covers these areas:
• Project overview (summary of the projects and its goals)
• News & Events (industrial and scientific events, other project news)
• Media & Publications (flyers, posters, all public project deliverables)
• Partners (short descriptions of project partners)

As the PRODUCER toolkits targets professionals in the media industries, with a focus on documentary producers, the primary dissemination and communication activities involved the presence of PRODUCER partners at many relevant media industry events (fairs, exhibitions and workshops) and festivals with marketplaces where documentary producers, buyers, distributors and funders meet.
12.1 NAB 2017
PRODUCER-project partner Flying Eye attended NAB in Las Vegas in April 2017. During NAB, Flying Eye conducted interviews with software manufacturers and system integrators as part of its activities in WP2 (Requirements Analysis & Collection of Documentary Multimedia Content & User Generated Con-tent). In addition to requirements engineering from potential investors point of view, Flying Eye investi-gated the market development, especially within the PRODUCER toolset. The market research from NAB provided input for the WP2 work. The research included comparing PRODUCER requirements with fea-tures offered by existing tools and eliciting requirements and opinions from event attendees.

12.8 FKTG Symposium
The bi-annual FKTG symposium is the main national event in Germany addressing technology trends in broadcast and digital movie production. It is a three-day event with an attendance of around 300 people from broadcast stations, production houses, broadcast solution providers, system integrators and scien-tific institutions. The event was held in Nuremberg from 4th to 6th of June 2018.
Kemal Goerguelue from Flying Eye presented a paper on the PRODUCER project during one of the sessions. There was a lot of interest raised by this presentation and follow-ups with some of the interested parties are planned for the next months.
12.9 Sunny Side of the Doc 2018
The Sunny Side of the Doc, now in its 29th year, is an international marketplace for documentary and other factual content. It is a four-day event, bringing together filmmakers, broadcasters, financiers, dis-tributors and producers. This year, the Producer Project was present with a booth hosted by Mediaset, Domino Production and Flying Eye, not only allowing attendees to receive a presentation of the project, but also to see live demos of the Producer tools. The event was held in La Rochelle from the 25th to the 28th of June 2018.
Simona Tonoli, Cecilia Vanella and Sergio Ghizzardi (exhibitors partners) came into contact with more than 40 SME and professionals in the documentary production sector presenting a “pitch” of the project. Around half of them were eager to participate at the final “benchmarking demo session” of the toolkit and give their feedbacks about the use of the tool in the form of a written anonymous questionnaire. Each session was followed by a Q&A discussion.

The website, the Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, have been maintained throughout the duration of the project, and will continue to be active at least for another year after the end of the project, but likely indefinitely.
The PRODUCER website provides a contact address where all technical partners can be reached. The partners who want to offer PRODUCER as a complete integrated toolkit or individual tools will be able to present themselves and their product portfolios there in the future.
Partners have made contacts, especially at NAB and the Sunny Side of the Doc with producers and other interested parties, aiming to obtain a commercial benefit from PRODUCER after the end of the project.
For most tools that were developed within PRODUCER there is a clear and well defined 'product owner' who will continue developing its tool or tools in its own business context. All those partners will utilize the PRODUCER ecosystem/framework/toolkit to add value to their specific offers, aiming to achieve a higher market penetration and commercial success than with their individual tools alone.
As such, partners will continue to present PRODUCER results on industry events and other dissemination opportunities in the future.
