2 EYESIGHT ALERT Eyesight Alert is a product designed to help people to protect their eyesight in modern days, and to reduce the impact of external factors on vision. This device automatically alerts the user if they use the eyes in an unhealthy way, and thus help students maintain the natural development of vision in the growth process, and also help busy adults protect their eyesight. App Design Due to busy work and study in this modern world, people always overuse their eyes and cause conditions of myopia. But even if there is awareness of eye protection, the problem is people are unclear how to protect their eyes, which results continuous decline in vision. With the development of technology, there have been increasingly wearable device, and people are more and more aware of the importance to protect eyesight. Parents are especially concerned to protect their children's eyesight. Although through modern medical technology vision can be corrected, but sustained attention with eye condition can largely avoid myopia. Based on this situation, I provide a newly designed product which provides a modern way to protect eyesight. 2.1 Project introduction 2.2 Research The proportion of myopia From 1970 to date, the percentage of short-sighted people has been rising, among which the 8-24 age group accounted for the highest proportion, and this proportion (i.e. the 8-24 age group myopia patients against the total myopia patients) is also on the rise. 8-24 age group is the high incidence of myopia, especially before the age of 20 when the vision is still in its development stage, myopia is easily caused of eye fatigue. Although today with the advances in medical technology we have a variety of methods that can correct myopia, the proportion of myopia is still on the rise. This has a great deal to do with people’s habit of eye overuse.

Among the people who have the awareness to protect eyesight, 80% of people expressed the wish to protect their eyesight, but it’s hard to keep pat attention to the environment or time they use their eyes, especially in the work or learning process. They only pay attention to these factors when they can remember.

Awareness to protect eyesightAccording to the survey of 150 people in the age group of 12-22 years old, 42% of them have the awareness to protect eyesight. The rest of the people do not pay attention to the vision protection issues in their daily lives.

Since the 8-24-year-old age group is a high incidence of myopia, and until the age of 20 it is the stage of development of the eye, my analysis targets the population of this age group. I primarily focus on the eye use conditions of students to obtain a program to protect eyesight.

Causes of myopiaThere are many causes of myopia, which can be divided into controllable factors and uncontrollable factors.Due to the development of electronic products, people tend to look at a computer or smart phone for a long time, while the sight is almost not moving. Then will cause long-term use of eye muscles, and thus cause muscle tension and muscle stiffness, and then cause eye fatigue and myopia. Therefore, compared to the past, people are more likely to have myopia nowadays.External controllable factors include reading distance, light intensity, time of eye usage, etc.Uncontrollable factors are genetic factors, disease and so on.

12.In the next eyesight test Yueran’svision did not continue to decline.

1.This product is designed to be of a shape similar to aclip, one side using special materials so that it can beadsorbed on different materials.2.This product has in total three LEDs, respectively forthe distance, light intensity, eye using time reminders.3.A flashing light indicates unhealthy eye condition,which needs to be adjusted.4.When unhealthy eye condition occurs, the device willalso vibrate to alert the user.5.When a healthy eye condition is restored, the devicewill automatically stop alert signs.6.The button next to the device is used to stop reminderor alert.

2.8 Wireframe

2.9 Final works

This product needs to be registered, and users could start using the device once it is associated with your phone.

Main page displays all the functions provided by APP.

Registration requires users to enter age, for different ages the device will apply different standards to help protect eyesight. Users also need to enter the location, for different environmental conditions also have different standards. Users could register via Facebook or Instagram.

Take statist ical data of distance as an example. Abscissa shows the different objects, such as Computer, TV, phone, ipad, etc. has different distance. Using color to distinguish three phases, namely the safety distance, pass distance, and failure distance. The bottom displays the length of time of the above mentioned three kind of distance in a day.

Equipment needs to be associated with a cell phone, so that the device can detect the data and timely transfer data to the phone. Users could set the indicator color. System has been set up default standard data based on personal information, but according to individual circumstances, users may modify the alert standards.

Statistics show complete statistical data of eye condition for the current day. Users could also choose a week, or a month. For example, it can display statistical data of eye duration of the day in the different activities with the length of time, as well as safe eye using time, pass eye using time, and failure eye using time.

Users could view history records by date.

2.10 ReflectionI select this project because lots of people around me have the problem of myopia, and lots of parents complained that they always have to remind their children to protect their eyesight. China has seen a steep rise in myopia over past 50 years. However, most people still do not know how to protect eyesight effectively, and no one could always remind others to protect their eyesight. These inspire me to design a wearable device which could automatically alert people. With the rapid development of technology and science, advanced technologies could be used to benefit humankind in various ways. And with the awareness of advanced technology, people could view and solve questions from another standpoint. In the whole process, I found consumer research to be an important link because it could help me to satisfy the needs of consumers.
