MELTON CITY LIBRARIES APP
We’re super excited to announce the launch
of the new Melton City Libraries app, which
makes it easier than ever to access all the
great services your library has to offer. Place
holds, renew loans, search the collection and
access our eBooks, movies, music and more
from your Apple or Android device. Once you’re
logged in, the app recreates your library card’s
barcode. As long as you have your phone or
tablet, you won’t need your physical card.
The app includes links to our online
educational and study resources, and is
perfect for student or classroom devices.
Search for “Melton City Libraries” in
the App Store, or Google Play.
SCHOOL BOOKLISTS AT YOUR LIBRARY
Books can be expensive, and not all
students have access to required reading
outside of the classroom. Melton City
Libraries may be able to source extra
copies of English Subject texts for our
collection (paper or ebook), or add titles
to our collection that will assist with
project or research based assessment.
Unfortunately the Melton City Libraries
are unable to purchase text books.
To send your schools booklist, or
suggest purchases, please email:

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME
National Simultaneous Storytime is an event held annually by the
Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture
book (written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator)
is read simultaneously in libraries and schools around the country.
On Wednesday 22 May 2019, Melton City Libraries will be reading
Alpacas with Maracas, written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove. We aim
to get as many children in the City of Melton reading this story on the
day, to promote the value of reading and the fun of sharing stories.
We can supply your school with a free
copy of Alpacas with Maracas and
resources specifically designed to explore
and extend the themes of the book. On
Wednesday 22 May 2019, we encourage
you to join with us by reading the book
in as many classrooms as you can.
To receive your free book and resource
pack, please email:
[email protected] before Monday 1 April 2019.

ARTS PROGRAMMING AND EXHIBITIONS
Caroline Springs Gallery and Melton Library,
Friday 28 June – Friday 9 August, Home.
A group exhibition of textile work
Home Sewn: Makers of Melton is a project
that brings together textile artists, crafters and
makers from across the City of Melton. Textile
artists in this exhibition ask what it means to
“come home”. What feelings are imbued with the
sense of coming home? Often the thoughts we
have of “home” have nothing to do with a physical
space, but are driven by memories, emotions,
and connections. How can these be conveyed
in visual form using textiles as a medium?
Secondary school teachers are invited to
book into one of our in-gallery tours of the
exhibition with our friendly Library or Arts staff
and one of our in-school visits with an artist
from the exhibition. Email libraryschoolyears@
melton.vic.gov.au to reserve your place.
