The Indian Musical Heritage has such powerful aspects that stirred even musicians like The Beatles who came to India in 1968 searching for new inspirations and motivations. The RaagaTaala Lab wants to be a journey that starts for the same reasons. It is with this spirit that the CPM, one of the most important centres for learning Music in Italy, together with the Indian market specialists, Occhi di Ulisse, the Music Label and Inroom Records, are organising the first International Music Workshop in India, in the heart of Rajasthan, addressed to musicians, music lovers and music listeners. Ten days continuously with 3 Gurus: at the Sitar with Purbayan Chatterjee, at the Tabla with Fazal Qureshi, and with vocalist Sunanda Sharma. It will be six hours per day of practice, listening to music, together with performances of Bands created on the spot with musicians from all over the World.

Two filmmakers begin to track every intimate moment in the lives of struggling actor Giovanni and his wife, Lucia, who works freelance as a film editor. Yet, this film study on precarious existence is suddenly shattered by deep emotion and simple human truth, as cruel as it is banal, when Giovanni walks out on Lucia and their infant right before the camera. The camera continues relentlessly filming the couple despite this unexpected real life crisis, and Lucia’s solitude and heartache are mercilessly dissected by the lens of cameraman Eros….

Natura Sonoris explores the complex relationship between two elements, between the living and the inert, between the body and light, choosing to respect the unique nature of each element that feeds off the other to come to life. Darkness is pierced by luminous symbols that expand and intercept the limits of space, revealing the performer’s form. The movement pierces through to universes that are constantly expanding, transforming and creating infinite identities. The abstract and the figurative blend before our gaze and dispel the limits between the human body and landscape, where the word is lost and sound summons the beyond.

Just as though they were on an imaginary film set, the characters from the world of Luci del Varietà (Variety Lights), Lo Sceicco Bianco (The White Sheikh) and the legendary Frou Frou from I Clowns (The Clowns), transport us into the world of Federico Fellini’s films. The sounds of a waltz by Strauss introduce us to the blind princess in the film E la nave va (And the ship sails on) who is capable of perceiving and describing all the nuances of the colours of music. One experiences the loneliness of Casanova, the famous lover who by now only dances with a doll, then there is the fatigue of Ginger and Fred and finally Amarcord. After all their grotesque and moving stories have been told, all the characters find themselves gathered together in the final carousel of Fellini’s 8 e mezzo (8 and a half), with snow, wind, fog and all those special effects so dear to the magical world of Fellini’s cinema.

There are lots of bars, but the Bar Sport is much more. In every city, in every village, there is a Bar Sport, always with doors facing the main square. Rather than a meeting place or a point of reference, it is a place of the soul, a melting pot for a whole world of situations and characters which we have met at least once, or would like to get acquainted with. At the Bar Sport, the deeds of the great sports persons passing into legend are handed down: Piva, the football player with a powerful shot, beloved by his fans; the Great Pozzi, the invincible cyclist involved in an endless challenge with the famous Girardoux.

SPACEMATES is a project born out of a dialogue between artists Andrea Anastasio and Aradhana Seth. The two artists met in order to work at a book project on request from TARA books. Right from the beginning they found a shared interest in daily life and domestic space, though using different medium. After few meetings, once the dialogue generated enough confidence in each other languages they found themselves involved in conceiving a space that could host their shared gaze on reality. The exhibition is the result of this meeting. The space is designed almost like a proper house and the viewer will inhabit it for the duration of the visit. The gallery will turn into a site-specific installation, where paintings of household objects will stare at the viewer while sculptures made out of manipulated domestic daily life objects are taken to a sculptural dimension, beckoning her or him to realise that they are solitary beings in the rooms of an uninhabited home.

Event organised by Istituto Italiano di Cultura in collaboration with India Art Fair and Tara Books.

Nena, a girl from the south of Italy, has to travel far from home to get her first job as a teacher. She is sad, not because she has to leave her mother and sister, with whom everything is clear and sometimes difficult, but because she is having a serious love affair with someone from her village to whom she is very committed: they promise that nothing will change between them. It is only until June and then she can ask for a transfer. And so she leaves, a little sad and a little curious about what is in store for her. But what she finds is completely different from what she imagined. It’s much worse: a school isolated on a high mountain plain, wild children, people she has nothing in common with and a hostile environment. She sticks it out because of pride and because Francesco loves her for her courage, until one cold February day when everything goes wrong, everything seems lost forever.

The place was Rome and the year 1510 when the first book ever on India was published by a European. The Bolognese author Ludovico De Varthema, left Venice in 1502, travelled extensively to the east of the Mediterranean Sea and reached the Indian peninsula, where he stayed for a long time.
