Food groups
IntroductionIt is important that the pupils unclerstand that ahealthy diet ccnsists of eating the right kinds of foodand in the right amounts. The food pyramid is a toolused in health education to illustrate this. Generallyspeaking a serving refers to a normal amount of eachtype of food. For example: L seraing of fruit = 1 appleor L serving of milk = 1 glnss of núlk.
Warm up. Tell the pupils to look carefully at the food
pyramid. Explain that this pyramid shows us notjust the different food ty'pes but also the correctdaily amounts for each type.
