It remains so toda).

For fifty years, ·ew College students and graduates ha,·e distinguished themselves as national leaders in undergraduate research, academic and professional achievement, busine ·s, the art . and community sen ice. The 2010 graduating seniors are no exception . They weathered Hurricane Katrina with the nation and some of it memhers went to ew Orleans on service trips. as well as to help migrant workers in outhern Florida. They took sustainabilit) -;eriously, conducted research. im·ited experts to speak on campus, and applauded \vhen ew College signed onto the Presidents Climate Commitment to reduce the College's carbon footprint. The 'e'" College , tudent Association added a i c President for 1reen Affairs to its Cabinet. Jn

2008. the students con\'inced the College's Trustees to send a Resolution supporting a ·tudent "Green Fee·· to the Florida Board of Go\·ernors; such a fee was adopted by the State Legi lature in this year's '>e<>sion . With six Fulbright Fellows and many others \Vho have received awards and accolades throughout their careers here, the Class of 2010 continues ew College's rich tradition of producing outstanding graduates \vho become involved global citizens.

We celebrate this year\ class, graduating fifty years after the College's founding, as one that \\ill continue to have a lasting effect on '\e\v College's history and its future. Thanks in part to the their contrit?utions, ew College stands out among its peers across the country, having earned accolades trom publications such as US. ews & World Report, The Princeton Review, Kiplinger's, Forbes.conz, Barron's Guides, Colleges That Change Li11es and The Wall Street journal. This class participated in developing the College's Academic and Strategic Plans ror 2008-2018, and the Landscape \laster Plan, all of which guide campus decision-making. The e students are passionate about their beliefs and commitments. a trait that should serve th m well in the future.

Just as the more than 4.470 ew College graduates who preceded them ha e, this year's graduating seniors promise to make their mark on our nation and the world as accomplished scholars, c~trcpren~urs, civi leaders, educators, attorneys, physicians, artists, journalist and profess1onals of every type.
