Proper Etiquette at Mass – continued

The Mass is celebrated throughout the universal Church in accordance with liturgical norms outlined in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM). To put it plainly, this is so we are on the same page throughout the universal Church in the way we celebrate Mass. It also prevents liberties taken that tend towards liturgical abuses. As a priest I have always sought to be faithful to these norms. For me it is a point of obedience. I believe, as a pastor, I have an obligation to celebrate the Mass in accordance with the “mind of the Church” and the people have a right to expect the Mass to be celebrated according to the wishes of the universal Church. In the weeks ahead I will highlight and explain some of the GIRM norms.

Living God’s Word We can ask God to give us that joy that the world cannot give, a joy that is found rooted in our faith in God, in our trusting that the God who raised Jesus up will also bring us to fullness of life. Copyright © 2013, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

Derechos de autor © 2012, World Library Publications. Todos los derechos reservados.

Living God’s Word Advent is about the very place from which all of our dreams begin—in God. It’s where gorges of human pain and suffering are filled and where mountains of injustice are brought low. It’s the way God begins to lead the people home to where it all began. Copyright © 2012, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.
