Strategies for Managing Your Most Valuable Asset

CEOs are in charge of making strategic decisions to build

success in corporations. One of the KPI to measure a

the sustainable success of the company. Who is the CEO

demonstrates a unique methodology in defining and

measuring happiness based on a universal unit of

measure. Learn how to build a meaningful and

measurable ROI model for your success and happiness.

time). Discussion to include: PR, guerilla marketing, social

media and search engine marketing, content marketing,

direct mail and email, digital advertising, and good old

fashioned networking.

FBI Cyber Security Threat Overview

The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating cyber

attacks by criminals, overseas adversaries, and terrorists.

The threat is incredibly serious—and growing. Cyber

intrusions are becoming more commonplace, more

dangerous, and more sophisticated. Just as the FBI

transformed itself to better address the terrorist threat

after the 9/11 attacks, it is undertaking a similar

transformation to address the pervasive and evolving

cyber threat. This means enhancing the Cyber Division’s

investigative capacity to sharpen its focus on intrusions

into government and private computer networks.

Join our FBI Special Agent, Denver Division, to hear how

FBI Cyber Investigations are handled. In addition, you will

learn about the types of crime that are trending and

mitigation strategies to combat these trends.

Linda Appel Lipsius, Co-Founder & CEO, Teatulia Organic Teas

The fourth of nine children, Jabs was born and raised in rural Montana, and his parents were immigrants from Russia and Poland. Jabs credits his family for providing him a strong work ethic, a sense of family and a love of music. In fact, this long-time musician’s entrepreneurial career began in guitar sales. Then, after a stint selling electronics in the early 1950s, Jabs’ first serious venture into the furniture business came in 1968 when he opened Mediterranean Galleries, a high-end furniture store with locations in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Billings, Montana.

Five years later, the Mediterranean trend in home furnishings ran its course and Jabs chose to close the Galleries. Not long after, Jabs came across an opportunity that would become his life. In 1975, he purchased a one-location, struggling furniture business, called American Furniture Company – which he then renamed to American Furniture Warehouse.

Under Jabs’ leadership, American Furniture Warehouse has expanded into a fourteen-store operation that includes 12 stores in Colorado and 2 stores in Arizona. As he has been since the beginning, Jabs is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and also oversees the company’s team of buyers. Today, American Furniture Warehouse is one of the top retail furniture companies in the U.S. and one of the largest privately-held businesses in Colorado.

An active member of the community and philanthropist, Jabs lends his support to a number of non-profit organizations. He serves as National Vice-President of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and is actively involved with many not for profit organizations in Colorado.

Throughout his career as a major furniture importer as well as in his early years in the Armed Services, Jabs has traveled throughout more than 50 countries and has made a lifelong study of various forms of government and business. He often speaks to high school and college students on topics such as the basics of business and the keys to success.

Jake Jabs, President & CEO, American Furniture Warehouse

Beth Gruitch Industry Specialization – Restaurants and hospitality When people say the restaurant business is in your blood, Beth Gruitch is a believer. Her great grandparents, three generations before her, must have passed down the gene. They owned and ran a diner, setting the standards that have lead to Beth’s record of critical acclaim.

Beth earned a four-year business degree in Restaurant Hospitality from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and graduated with several offers on the table. Gruitch officially joined the ranks of Levy Restaurants in Chicago, managing some of the group’s high-end concepts like Bistro 110 and Voila. This was the turning point in her career where she realized she

only wanted to work with people who shared her passion for food and wine and took pride in the product and service they offered.

Gruitch found herself back in Colorado and accepted the general manager position at Panzano in February 1999, where she met Jennifer Jasinski. During their tenure at Panzano, the duo led the restaurant to the top of Denver’s culinary mountain - consistently named one of the top 5 Denver restaurants for food and service.

In 2003, Gruitch and Jasinski decided to leave their posts to begin their first venture into restaurant ownership. The following year they opened Rioja and soon to follow they opened Bistro Vendôme, Euclid Hall Bar and Kitchen, and later, Stoic & Genuine in Denver’s Historic Union Station and opening soon Ultreia, also in Union Station.

Perhaps her business partner, Jasinski says it best. “Beth makes sure all the best happens for our guests. She hires the best service staff, gives them complete and thorough training and coaches them to perform. She’s the reason people rave about our service.”

Rioja, Bistro Vendôme, Euclid Hall and Stoic & Genuine have been consistently listed among the top restaurants in Denver by the Rocky Mountain News, 5280 Magazine and the Gabby Gourmet Restaurant Guide and Rioja has been annually awarded four stars by AAA since 2008.

Beth is involved in the myriad charitable events in which her restaurants participate and serves on the executive board of Denver Civic Ventures at the Downtown Denver Partnership.
