Mayoral Message for 2017 Eisteddfod Program

Penrith Council is proud to support the 33rd Annual City of Penrith Eisteddfod. Each year the Eisteddfod provides a wonderful opportunity for many gifted individuals to compete in a diverse program of music, speech, drama and dance. It also gives people of all ages the chance to develop their talents and share them with a wide audience. The experience of competing in an Eisteddfod builds character, confidence and allows participants to learn important life lessons such as the value of presentation and dedicated practice. The City of Penrith Eisteddfod has a reputation for high standards and I am confident this year’s event will uphold this record. I’d like to congratulate and thank The City of Penrith Eisteddfod Society members, the event organisers and sponsors for their ongoing dedication and support. On behalf of Council and the people of Penrith, I’d like to warmly welcome those visiting our City. I hope you have time during your stay to explore our many attractions. Please be aware that we have a large number of entrants and we ask that you be on time. If you arrive late for your session you may not be able to perform.

There is a room available for warming up. There will be an area provided where you can unpack your instrument and leave your case. We ask that you unpack before your section begins and are ready to perform when you are called. We will provide water free of charge: outside the auditorium ie in the foyer there will be jugs of water and plastic cups. Please place your used cups in the bins provided. Out of courtesy to other performers, the audience and the adjudicator we ask that you conduct any conversations outside the building. There will be a morning and an afternoon session. If you are in both sessions you will need to bring your own lunch. Please be aware that it takes at least 15 minutes to travel into Penrith if you do not bring your own food.
