From Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama, and from Margaret Thatcher to Tony Blair,Shadow World on Independent Lens re-veals the shocking realities of the globalarms tradeits massive greed and corrup-tionand the only business that counts itsprofits in billions and its losses in human lives. Are wars being prolonged to generate moreprofits for a few, regardless of the human cost?
Through the insights of whistleblowers, investigators, prosecutors, journalists, mili-tary and industry insiders, Shadow Worldunravels a number of the worlds largest andmost corrupt arms deals. It illustrates howthe global arms trade operates in a parallellegal universe, in which the national secu-rity elite who drive it are seldom prosecutedfor their often-illegal actions.
Based on The Shadow World: Inside theGlobal Arms Trade, the acclaimed book byAndrew Feinstein, the film explores howgovernments, their militaries and intelli-
Set against the social, political, and cul-tural landscape of the times, ChasingTrane: The John Coltrane Story on Indepen-dent Lens brings the saxophone great to life,as a man and an artist. Denzel Washingtonspeaks the words of Coltrane.

gence agencies, defense contractors, armsdealers, and agents are inextricably inter-twined with the international trade in weap-ons, and how that trade fosters corruption, determines economic and foreign policies, undermines democracies, and creates humansuffering.
Ultimately the film reveals the real costsof war, the way the arms trade drives it, andhow a defense industry that is supposed toenhance security instead does the exactopposite; it actually sets the stage for war, making the world much more dangerous.

When Mike Flynn was a boy, he sat inhis bedroom on the Kansas prairie, turningthe dial on his radio and marveling that avoice from Chicago could reach so far.
Now it is Flynns voice that reaches lis-teners across the nation. His syndicatedweekly radio show, The Folk Sampler, isheard on stations from West Virginia toAlaska.
From the foothills of the Ozarks, theshow starts out, this is The Folk Sampler.Im Mike Flynn.
The series plays a mix of traditional mu-sic, folk, bluegrass, and blues. Each programrevolves around a theme, anything from trainsto holidays to the anguish of love.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES THE GOOD STARS is the second install-ment of the classic Lucy Maud Montgomery story of a free-spirited teen-ager on Prince Edward Island. It premieres on Thanksgiving night, just asANNE OF GREEN GABLES (2016) did last Thanksgiving. The third install-ment, FIRE & DEW, airs in 2018.
In GOOD STARS, Anne Shirley turns 13 and faces complex situationswith friends, learns from inspirational adults, and experiences an escalat-ing friendship with Gilbert. Her free-spirited nature is challenged by her per-ceived need to be sensible, a journey fraught with confusion and some un-fortunatealbeit amusingmishaps.
