Keynote Speakers

Ronald Gecsedi, PE is Chief Project Manager in the Construction Division of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), and is currently responsible for managing over $900M in capital projects on behalf of the Authority. Mr. Gecsedi earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and began his construction career working for several plumbing, sprinkler and mechanical contractors in New York City. After a brief assignment with the State University Construction Fund, he has held progressively responsible positions with the New York State Facilities Development Corporation (FDC) and the Dormitory Authority. During his 25-year public sector career, he has managed a complex workload of high-priority, specialized projects for a variety of clients.

The range of his project experience includes management of the design and construction of community residences, health clinics, public safety and correctional facilities, laboratories, garages, infrastructure projects, and, of course, acute care hospitals and ambulatory care facilities. Ron’s professional experience encompasses a wide variety of disciplines including energy, environmental, security, engineering, codes, elevators and telecommunications, and includes over delivery of over 200 projects across all of New York State.

Sharon Greenberger is Senior Vice President, Facilities Development & Engineering at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and brings over 20 years of urban planning and development, design, construction and operations management experience to her current position. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Hospital’s Offices of Corporate Engineering, Facilities Operations, Facilities Design and Construction and Capital Asset Planning and Development. She is also responsible for moving forward the next phase of the Hospital’s Long Term Capital Plan and infrastructure programs. Prior to joining NYP, Ms. Greenberger held several leadership roles in the Bloomberg Administration. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Education, helping to manage New York City’s 1,700 public schools.

Prior to that, she was President and Chief Executive Officer of the New York City School Construction Authority, where she oversaw the renovation and modernization of the City’s existing school buildings and the design and construction of over 100 new school buildings. Previously, she spent three years as Chief of Staff for the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding, and served as Vice President for Campus Planning and Real Estate for New York University, overseeing its expansion efforts.

Joseph Chin is Senior Vice President, Healthcare at Structure Tone, where he is responsible for new business pursuits and client development, as well as project delivery. Mr. Chin has more than 30 years of construction industry experience with healthcare projects, as well as commercial and residential structures. Joe’s healthcare construction experience ranges from new, state-of-the-art laboratory and research facilities to acute care expansions and from exam and diagnostic suite renovations to ambulatory care construction. For Mount Sinai Hospital Joe was project executive for the new 400,000sf Center for Science and Medicine Building and the 100,000sf, three-phase conversion of laboratories and offices spaces into new wet labs and medical offices, among many other assignments. Also, over a 12

year span he was responsible for over 30 projects, including 15 relocation efforts, for Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Joe also managed the 68,000sf vertical expansion of the Greenberg Pavilion for Impatient Services for New York Presbyterian Hospital.

William T. DeCamp III is Vice President & New York District Operations Manager at Gilbane Building. With over 35 years’ experience in leadership and management roles; Will DeCamp is a uniquely qualified construction management professional and an exceptionally skilled operations manager. His diverse background includes a distinguished 23 year military career as an active duty officer in the United States Marine Corps where he gained valuable experience in extensive worldwide policy, strategy, and complex operations. He then seamlessly transitioned to a construction management career where he has successfully served as Vice President/Project Executive on many noteworthy public and private

sector construction projects in New York City. Mr. DeCamp is thoroughly versed in the challenges of constructing in New York City. Before joining Gilbane, he held integral leadership roles on several successful New York City projects such as the $1.1 billion World Trade Center Transportation Hub where he led the procurement and administration of more than $800 million in subcontracts and purchase orders, the $265 million dollar multi-phased U.S. District Courthouse at Cadman Plaza, and the 22-story Millennium-Broadway Hotel Tower in downtown New York City.

Dino DeFeo, LEED AP, is a partner in AKF Group’s Healthcare division. Jeffrey P. Emil J. Martone, AIA is Vice President and Leader of the Health Care Project Sector in the Capital Program Division at the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Emil is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of a portfolio of projects that total approximately one billion dollars. These projects are diverse and vary from the demolition of Old Yankee Stadium and the construction of numerous major parks to the construction of several new health care facilities throughout New York City. His management includes oversight of all design and construction contracts ensuring his portfolio of projects are both on schedule and within budget. In order to achieve these objectives he and his staff navigate these projects through the various stakeholder

and regulatory approval processes required to successfully deliver projects in New York City. Charles F. Murphy is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the New York Business Unit at Turner Construction Company. The New York business unit has over 900 employees and completed $2.1 billion of construction in 2012. Turner is the only builder offering clients a nationwide network, with 46 offices across the country, and ranks first or second in the major segments of the building construction field. Turner Construction Company completed $8 billion of construction in 2012 and is, through its subsidiaries, the leading general builder in the United States. A 34-year construction industry veteran, Mr. Murphy has spent his entire career at Turner. His first position in 1978 was as an engineering assistant in the firm’s Philadelphia office. In the years that

followed, he was promoted positions of greater responsibility in Philadelphia and in 1990, was transferred to the New Jersey business unit as chief estimator. In 1998, he moved to the New York unit as chief estimator. In 2001, Mr. Murphy was named director of healthcare for the New York unit and was promoted to vice president of healthcare in 2002. He was named Vice President & general Manager in early 2005. In December 2006 he was promoted to Senior Vice President. Mr. Murphy is a member of several prominent organizations, including the Contractors’ Association of Greater New York (CAGNY) and the Building Trades Employers’ Association (BTEA). Marsha Powell, AIA, is Director of Engineering Services at New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. In addition to teaming with Coler-Goldwater on their $285M HJ Carter project and with Gouverneur Healthcare Services on its $246M nursing facility and community health center, modernization project, she manages close to 40 consultant requirements contracts. She has over 20 years of experience in healthcare design and construction management; including design-build work with the Syska Hennessy Group Construction in military hospitals throughout the country. Ms. Powell earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the City College of New York. Prior to receiving her architecture degree, she did

Chuck Richmond is a Project Executive & Senior Vice President at Lend Lease.
