THE CONFERENCE
The not for profit sector, particularly
associations, is facing challenges—not only
in attracting new members, but in retaining
existing members. As such, not for profit
leaders must move away from traditional,
outdated methods of service delivery, to
creating a new organisation that is dynamic,
innovative and sustainable long-term.
LEADERS LEADING CHANGE.
With the theme of Leaders Leading Change,
this exciting one-day seminar will include
an array of case studies presented by some
of Australia’s leading not for profit CEOs.
Our diverse line-up of speakers will share
their experiences, challenges, frustrations
and achievements in managing change
within their own organisations.
Be sure to join us for the last collaborative
session of the day. During this session,
attendees and speakers alike will
participate in a lively discussion, identifying
the most important characteristics of
leadership within the not for profit sector.
This discussion will form the basis of a
best-practice not for profit leadership
model to be shared with, and applied by,
not for profit organisations in Australia.

An Innovative Approach to Association Governance
General Practice Registrars Australia undertook a significant constitutional reform in 2015 that
enabled a unique approach to governance of the organisation. This reform resulted in the separation of
the Board Chairperson and Association President roles. This was implemented through an
independent director being appointed to the Chairperson role and a member director elected as the
President. The dynamics of the CEO - Chairperson - President relationships, based on role
delineations, clear reporting lines and effective communication has resulted in a successful tripartite
model of organisational leadership. This innovate approach to association governance has brought a
number of benefits and positively influenced recent repositioning of the organisation.
