About SnoballShould we have a car wash or a dance?

That question was asked of YWCA Salem’s Y Teens program 58 years ago, and their decision has grown into an annual must see community event.

The proceeds from the SnoBall fundraiser help YWCA Salem to provide vital services in the community.

Services include: breast cancer screenings, insurance for kids, the only homeless shelter in Salem that keeps families together, youth leadership, after school programs, and family/parenting classes.

YWCA Salem Youth Leadership Committee

The Youth Leadership Committee meets for 6 months out of the year to plan, design,

and create the SnoBall Fundraiser Dance.

They come from all over the mid-valley and develop team work, leadership, and career skills

such as event planning, marketing, and sales

Their service hours help to raise much needed funds for YWCA Salem. In exchange for their

service, students earn a free ticket to the SnoBall.

Thank you, 2011 Youth Leadership Committee!

Formal Wear Giveaway

Page 19: PROGRAM 2 2011

Every November, YWCA Salem holds a Formal Wear Giveaway

to help teens get free formal wear!

YWCA Salem is working with Abby’s Closet in Portland to help

young women attend formal dances, such as Prom and the SnoBall,

regardless of their economic situation.

Special thanks this year to Regal Gowns, Z100 Portland, Bronze Planet,

Mr. Formal, Salon Havana, and Melissa Myers, Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

All of these “vendors” helped enhance the “shopping” experience.
