Where to start?
Tactics Are Excuses
• Identify a need• Determine the key pain points/questions• Address the pain/ answer those questions• Sell those people the book (&maybe more)• Update, revise, & repeat
But remember:
• Writing a book is a lot of work• 6-12 months of dedicated effort part-time• Writing a book nobody wants is a big
waste of time• Writing a lousy book can hurt more than it
helps
Keys to success
• Cultivate an e-mail list & keep in touch• Use surveys and ask for feedback• Pay attention to blog comments & message boards• Interview others – not a monologue• Know your objective: ego, biz card, or $$$?• Get reviews (especially Amazon) & links• Hire help for specialized jobs (cover, ePub, proofing)
