PUBLIC FOUR-YEAR UNIVERSITIES INTRODUCTION

Michigan’s 16 public four-year institutions are individually profiled in this section. Requirements, deadline dates, phone numbers, cost estimates and housing information are all provided. The various programs under which courses are offered are also listed. Program offerings at these comprehensive institutions can be divided as follows: Certificate and Associate Degree Programs – Several of the universities provide less than baccalaureate degree programs for various occupations. These programs are found under the level 1 through 3 headings. Undergraduate Baccalaureate Programs – This division includes all programs through which a baccalaureate degree can be earned (level 4 programs). Graduate-Professional Programs – These programs lead to post-baccalaureate degrees in the various professional disciplines (level 5 through 9 programs). In most cases, information is also provided pertaining to the number of semester/term hours required to complete the program and whether a teaching certificate is available in conjunction with it. Please see the CIP Code Directory for an explanation of the program arrangement sequence.
