Definition: Profile tolerancing is a method used to specify auniform amount of variation of a surface or line elements of a

    surface.

Tolerance Zone: Profile tolerance specif ies a tolerance zone

confined by two equidistant profiles within which the entire

    surface must lie.

    Runout (Circular and Total)

Definition: The composite deviation from the

desired form of a part surface of revolutionduring full rotation (360 deg.) of the part on adatum axis.

Tolerance Zone:A total width zone bounded by

two boundaries of revolution within which:Circular Runout: all points of each circular element

(cross-section) of the considered feature must l ieregardless of the size of the considered feature.

Total Runout: all points of the entire surface of theconsidered feature must lie regardless of the size ofthe considered feature.

    Runout (Circular and Total)Tolerance Value

Runout tolerance states how far an

actual surface is permitted to deviate

from the desired form implied by thedrawing during full rotation (360 deg.) of

the part on a datum axis.

    Definition: Concentricity is the condition

where the median points of all

diametrically opposed elements of allindividual cross-sections of a figure of

revolution are congruent with the axis

    of a datum feature.
