History

TAROM (Romanian Air Transport) was founded on the 18th of September 1954, after TARS (Soviet-Romanian Air Transport)ceased operations and the Ministry of Air and Naval Transport took over both TARS’ personnel and goods.

Operating both domestic and international flights even from its very beginning, by 1960 TAROM was operating to most Euro-pean countries, and in 1966 operated its first flight across the Atlantic.
