TKgune is a network formed by Vocational Training centres.Our main objective is “To facilitate bi-directional transfer of knowledge between VT centres and companies,” and to do so, we develop technological services, mainly by collaborating with SMEs in Araba, Biscay and Gipuzkoa.

So what does the company gain?

• Within the current economic context, driving innovation is essential to guarantee competitiveness for a company. Through its specialised offering, TKgune allows you to improve your products and processes, thus accessing new markets thanks to greater added value.

• To this end, we provide you with the equipment and facilities we have in Vocational Training, along with our teachers’ expertise, who are specialised in several different areas.

• Furthermore, we work with open code, so we have no issue sharing information with the company. In fact, we want the company to learn from the centre, and for the centre to learn from the company.

• As if this weren’t enough, we should also highlight that the TKgune programme was promoted by the Basque Government Department of Education, in close collaboration with the Provincial Councils of Araba, Biscay and Gipuzkoa. This can open up a wide range of options for your company, competing for grants designed to meet the innovation needs of SMEs.

By means of the network of automotive vocational training centres and teachers, we offer the possibility of assistance in introducing and/or improving new work processes. The company will therefore have the personal tutoring of our professionals and the possibility of using our network of centres as a test bed, prior to introduction of the production process.

A vision that helps us to understand how design and manufacturing mode influence every component, with the rest of the systems. This helps us to identify the components and critical elements that directly intervene in the dynamics, safety and reliability of the whole. It also means that solutions and improvements can be applied to both the design process and the process of producing components, sets and subsets.

CONSUMPTION MONITORING, ANALYSIS AND COMPLETE ENERGY AUDITS.

We analyse installations from the point of view of energy consumption (invoice analysis, measurement by means of network analysers, etc.), energy consumption monitoring and forecasting, savings measurement and verification. Taking into account both electrical and thermal points of view we perform energy certifications of buildings, as well as enclosures analysis and suggestions for improvement.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

We detect critical points in machines, installations and buildings, proposing energy demand improvements and optimisations. We try to minimise consumption and increase yield.

In the 3D animation and virtual reality area, proposals for improvement and innovation include 3D animation techniques, modelling, on-screen object virtualisation, revision of archives, code and modelling interactions in 2D and 3D formats, augmented reality, mixed reality, capturing movements through different sensor techniques, environmental recognition and 3D-model printing, from part design to final printing. In this area, we also offer innovative proposals in

Adaptation for teaching purposes of an internal combustion engineAt the behest of an important company in the automobile component industry, the main elements produced by them in an internal combustion engine were selected, adding optical indicators controlled through an IT application, simultaneously viewing different multimedia content on an attached screen.

Manufacture of first prototype of a new concept for competition bicycle chainsetManufacture of the first set for a new competition bicycle chainset with our own patent, as well as definition of the machining process for later industrialisation.

Modifications to a vehicle belonging to a competitive car teamA portable system was developed to reduce engine overheating in order to improve vehicle performance. To this end, a system prototype was manufactured that was validated later.

Support in energy renovation for a sport centreTechnical support was given in the process of amplifying and renovating a sport centre. Specifically, a photovoltaic facility was re-designed and re-considered, designed for self-supply, thereby obtaining significant savings.

Implementation of quality control for hydraulic cylindersA test bench was designed and developed for quality control over hydraulic cylinders, used at automated facilities. To do so, the system selects cylinder samples that are chosen based on statistical process control.

Electric audit of a pellet-production companyAn audit was conducted for a pellet-production company. In this audit, invoices were analysed and instructions were given to the company on how to optimise its electricity rate. Moreover, it was explained how to manage data monitoring and how to supervise and control consumption, helping them to understand when they should work and what the penalties implied.

Improved productivity and safety for a welding pressThe part-feed system was partially automated for a welding press that the company had in its facilities, bearing in mind the economic feasibility of the developed solution.

Development of a 3D application to present a technological security solutionA 3D map of the city of Bilbao is shown on a large-format touchscreen, highlighting buildings belonging to different companies and organisations that already have the technological solution introduced. When you press on each one of these buildings, it shows the different multimedia content, with technical details on the installation and control and management possibilities available.

Additive manufacturingCreation of new parts, repair of high added-value parts, coverings and addition of material on base substrate through Additive Manufacturing with Cladding, WAAM and SLM technologies.

Test bench for a thermal engine start-up boosterA test bench was designed, developed and validated for a thermal engine start-up booster that works with a diesel engine. All of this was done while heeding to the company’s corporate image.

EXAMPLESSettings, operational tests and service test for a professional UTM solutionAt the behest of an important communications company, a professional UTM solution was installed in the institute’s DPC, with different routing options and anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-malware, etc. To validate the solution, operational tests were conducted in a real production setting, in this case the VT centre, with 1000 students and 700 computers operating simultaneously.

Automated transfer of parts for stamping processesThe automatic post-to-post transfer of a reference for the automobile industry was developed, manufactured through cold stamping. This was all synchronised with the press’ pace.

Implementation of diagnostic machinesAt the companies’ own facilities, the systems used by different brands when conducting vehicle maintenance and repair work were implemented.

Analysis for energy recovery and reuse in a laundryThe work process of an industrial laundry was analysed. The main deficiencies identified were high water consumption and discharged hot water. Different options were analysed, specifying an approach to reduce this water consumption and the energy discharged in the form of hot water.

Modifications to design of a press to minimise the bending effectA new system of pneumatic clamping for the revolving plate was designed. This minimises the bending caused by reactive forces, offsetting on one side the force applied when the press presses on the plate on the other side.

Monitoring collected dataA company that discharges huge volumes of water at a very high temperature wanted to take advantage of the situation, considering dristic heating. To this end, they needed to know how much water they were discharging and what the temperature was at all times. Adapting to the company’s needs, a system was developed to monitor the volume flow and temperature data.

Implementation of a collaborative robot system with artificial visionAssessment was provided throughout the entire implementation process of a collaborative robot system in the company, including assembly of a prototype.

Development of an application for mobiles and tablets (iOS and Android)At the request of a company in the animation sector, an app was made for mobiles and tablets that has a game with questions to discover sailor Juan Sebastián Elcano’s great adventure when he was the first one to circle the globe.

Definition of new production processes for key parts and assessment in machinery purchaseDefinition of new industrial processes based on multi-process machining centres, in order to reduce production costs, increase product quality and reduce dependence on suppliers, and more.

Development of an electronic-board verification machineA machine was designed, developed and validated to verify electronic plates, manually welding certain elements (condensers) that the pick-and-place machine could not automatically position.
