The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Medicine The Nethersole School of Nursing Professional Diploma Programme in Advanced Nursing Practice (Management and Leadership) Programme Overview The Professional Diploma Programme in Advanced Nursing Practice (Management and Leadership) is designed to prepare senior nurses, ward supervisors and clinical nurse specialists to become capable nurse leaders and managers. To be awarded with the professional diploma, the participant has to complete the programme requirements and pass the assessments as stipulated in the programme outline. Programme Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to: 1. Conduct self-assessment and develop personal vision, mission and values in nursing 2. Demonstrate the capability of managing the work unit efficiently and effectively 3. Build up network and partnership with other disciplines 4. Act as a change agent to facilitate and support team development 5. Act as a role model in the workplace and an advocate for the profession 6. Act as a mentor to develop nurses and to help them learn and grow 7. Plan and implement programmes to enhance service quality and patient safety 8. Encourage innovation and support practice change programmes in clinical settings Interactive Learning 1. Field visits to hospitals, healthcare facilities and/ or community health demonstration projects 2. Mentorship programme with 1-day shadowing and personal advice on people- and self-management 3. Tutorial and project coaching on quality improvement programme in the workplace

Assessment1. 3 written assignments (40%)

2. A completed professional portfolio (10%)

3. A group project on a case study (10%)

4. A project report to enhance healthy work environment (40%)

Advanced StandingGraduates of this programme will be eligible to apply for exemption up to 3 courses (total 9 units), subject to the Graduate School’s approval, in the Master of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing programmes offered by the Nethersole School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK.
