Who we are.

Inspector Authorization (IA)


SD began its formalized training program in 2010 with our FAA approved IA training.

IA training consists of a two-day Satellite Communications course.

Satellite and services overview.

Various OEM hardware training support.

Hands on lab training.

RV


The goal of SDs IA is to provide hands on training for customers in our customized lab environment.

Training has expanded to the use of our customized RV equipped with satellite communication capability

(internet and voice).

Allows for a richer on site training experience.

RV communications include: Ku (ViaSat), Ka (ViaSat), SwiftBroadband

(Inmarsat), Iridium, Satcom Direct Router with 3G

Flight Safety


Communications training was further expanded when we entered a partnership with Flight Safety in 2012.

Onsite lab equipment and training for customers of Gulfstream in SAV and non-OEM specific

communication training in TEB.

SD Training


The goal with SD training is to provide customers and the aviation community with the knowledge needed

to adequately use, troubleshoot, specify for purchase.

The need for knowledge was growing as communication systems became more common place within

business aviation.

Adequate training did not exist for users, installers and others who interacted with these systems.

SD was working to fill a void.

AeroIT


Cabin, flightdeck and avionics systems have become more sophisticated computer networked systems.

Technicians and mechanics are sometimes called upon to work important cabin and avionics systems

without proper knowledge or training.

This type of thinking does not apply to other aircraft systems.

Until now, no training existed within aviation which addressed the need for personnel to be IT educated.

AeroIT solves this problem and bridges the gap by providing the knowledge necessary.

Aviations first training and certification for Information Technology specifically geared towards aviation.

A certification for aviation by aviation communication specialists.

The exam and was created along with our partner, Examplifiy and weighted against set testing standards.

AeroIT is not a training certificate; it is a certification.

Examination assesses the knowledge, competencies and skills acquired.

Knowledge differentiates professionals.

Certification is valid for three years and requires re-certification.

AeroIT is similar to a Network+ or Cisco CCENT certification.



AeroIT covers four main domains identified by Satcom Direct SMEs and relating to

satellite communications and networking.

Satellite Networking.

Networking Theory.

Troubleshooting Aircraft Networks.

Network Management.

Courseware manual consists of 19 sections.

Written courseware for training class and as a reference guide after the course.



Training consists of a four day boot camp with the option to test on the last day.

A proctored exam is administered by Pearson Vue testing facilities.

Locations are available worldwide.

AeroIT exam consists of 85 questions.

Official Scope:

The scope of the committee shall be the development and maintenance of internationally accepted standards and guidance materials

for aerospace personnel education, qualification, testing, certification requirements, and continued education concurrent with

technological advancement. The work of this committee will include but is not limited to maintenance. The work of this committee will

be coordinated with other ASTM committees and organizations having common interest.

What this Means:

Industry will set minimum knowledge requirements of personnel.

Those knowledge requirements will be maintained throughout time.

New technologies will be added as developed while maintaining existing infrastructure.

Training and certification bodies will adopt standards for implementation in personnel.

Personnel will be more knowledgeable to current technologies, with increased career development.

Best possible opportunity for regulatory acceptance (NTTAA/OMB A119).
