About Taylor’s College

Since its inception in 1969, Taylor’s College has provided the platform for countless Malaysian youth to reach their full potential. Being a pioneer in the area of pre-university studies in Malaysia, Taylor’s College takes its responsibility in giving students the best head start to their future very seriously. Understanding the importance of the right start, Taylor’s College is now expanding its range of offerings to include professional programmes like the Certificate of Accounting Technical (CAT) professional accounting programme and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.

Certified AccountingTechnician(CAT)

The Certified Accounting Technician Certificate (CAT) has been developed with employers in mind and focus on the core skills of financial accounting and management accounting. You can complete this qualification (9 papers) within 1.5 years with Taylor’s well structure programme taking into accounts of developing you to acquire strong foundation. You may then progress onto the ACCA Qualification, starting at the Applied Skills exam (exempted from Applied Knowledge).

On completion of CAT exams with one year relevant practical experience and complete Foundations in Professionalism, you will entitle to use the designation “CAT” after your name.

To develop knowledge and understanding of the main types of business transactions and documentation and how these are recorded in an accounting system up to the trial balance stage.

To develop knowledge and understanding of the principles of external audit and the audit process and technical proficiency in the skills used for auditing financial statements.

To develop the ability to prepare computations of tax liability for both individuals and companies resident in Malaysia for the purposes of income tax, real property gain tax and services tax (GST). In addition, to develop knowledge and understanding of the manner in which dealings must be conducted with the Inland Revenue Board and Royal Customs and Excise Department, including knowledge of the statutory timescales for the submission of claims and returns and the due dates for the payment of tax liabilities.

To develop knowledge and understanding of the way organisations finance their operations, plan and control cash flows, optimise their use of working capital and allocate resources to capital expenditure projects.
