Suggestions:-

• The construction of modern slaughter houses of global standard in potential pockets of the state.

• The infrastructural facilities of global standard should be available in slaughter houses for the production of hygienic meat by adopting the sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

• The state as well as central governments should provide the incentive to private sectors for the establishment of modern slaughter houses in the state.

• The state government should motivate the exporters of buffalo meat to take also interest in export of goat meat.

Page 12: Prof P. N. Mehrotra Sri D. K. Singh FILES/T-I/Singh DK.pdf · OPPORTUNITY AND STRENGTH FOR EXPORT OF GOAT MEAT . FROM UTTAR PRADESH. by. Prof P. N. Mehrotra & Sri D. K. Singh. Agro

• Certain activities such as cleaning, washing, packing, refrigeration, transporting etc will have to be undertaken at par with international standard. For these activities, the state government should provide the training and financial assistance to the butchers and others to boost the export of goat meat fromthe state.

• In India only 1.2 per cent of total production of meat of live stock processed against 60 per cent of developed countries. Therefore there is better scope for establishing the processing units in potential districts of the state such as Aligarh, Agra, Allahabad, Lucknow and Bahraich.

The above analysis shows that there are huge opportunities and strength in export of goat meat from the Uttar Pradesh if it is properly managed in the light of global standard
