on. Kaloki’s primary agenda has all along been to ensure that the people of Kibwezi are able to get quality education. During his campaigns in 2007, he clearly indicated his desire to improve the standards of Heducation in Kibwezi constituency. In this regard he has been working closely with all stakeholders and

particularly district education officials, education officers, school heads, teachers and teachers’ Union officials to set the necessary goals and objectives. In the first two years, the MP committed massive funds towards bursaries for the needy students in both boarding and day schools and more so to students at the Universities and in other institutions. He has put up new schools (No.).., and additional classrooms in both primary and secondary schools. He has build laboratories, dining halls, as well as administration blocks. Again he has equipped many computer laboratories and purchased school buses besides grading playing fields and enrolling youths into driving schools among other initiatives within the education sector. His main strategic objective is to ensure quality education in the public schools in Kibwezi through both human and institutional empowerment to ECD, primary, secondary, university and other vocational institutions.

Within the period he has served as the area MP; he has put in place strategies to strengthen public schools co-management programmes through stakeholder dialogue and capacity building for teachers and school committee members by:-Ÿ Promoting the process of establishing ECD programmes in public schools.Ÿ Supporting girl child education by providing strategic and practical gender needs support to public schools.

Ensuring that all the primary and secondary schools have sufficient basic facilities of classrooms, books, desks, and teachers.

Ÿ Supporting the establishment of Vocational institutionsŸ Promoting functional adult literacy by establishing Community Learning Resource Centers.

His efforts and commitment towards education envisages Kibwezi schools to be highly rated nationally in both KCPE and KCSE examinations as well as quality and competitive students and graduates for the job market both locally and internationally. The following are some of his initiatives and projects undertaken towards this goal.
