We have discussed about changing our location today because it will be easier if we stick to one place which has all the locations we want. We talked about our costume and thought about how we said we would have a modern twist so we have figured what all the actors are going to wear now.

11/09/2012

Today we had a meeting about main things we need to sort out for our filming which has now been changed to Saturday. Jenny recorded notes while we all discussed changes and double checked times, locations etc.

13/09/2012

Today I set up my Premier Pro project; we set up one in standard version and one it high definition. This is ready for when I do my editing of the short film me and my group will be filming. We have all set up a project and we will all do the editing. I set up one folder to the same computer to save all my work so everything goes to the same document to make everything easy and organized. We have rescheduled our filming and got a camera and tripod today so that we can be ready to film on Monday.

17/09/2012

Today we went out into this woods bit to do some practice shots of the first scene because tomorrow we hope to be filming this for our short film. We took out the camera were going to use for all the film and tried out different angles, heights and the contrast of the image. Becky the camera person tried out different things with the camera changing settings like zoom. Then she tried out different pans to see if they looked right. In the end we decided that when we do the actual shot we won’t have the camera moving and we will try a front shot and a high shot when I do the first shot.

18/09/2012

Today we filmed the first shot of our short film. It was me the main girl walking down the road for the first shot in the script. We took this shot in our location and Becky took about five of me. This is so we can compare them and see which looks best for our final edit of the film. We got back to college and put all the clips onto the computer and Becky has put them all into the shared folder so that we can all open them up onto our individual premiere project.

20/09/2012

Today I have copied all the clips from the shared documents and pasted them into the local drive on my computer so I will have to do all my editing on this one computer. I have opened my premiere project and imported all the shots we took on Wednesday and watched them all to see which is best. It was good that we got more than one shot because of some distractions where we were filming. Today I can add the first shot to our film sequence.

Today we had a production meeting where we discussed our second date of filming and what was going to be filmed on that day. We came to a conclusion that Sunday is a possibility for filming in our two locations. We were thinking of splitting the day half in Monton half in Bolton so we can get more scenes done. We have got a new actor for our piece now and so we are able to sort out filming times better now that we aren’t being let down. We discussed days we could film with him next week, so we should be. We also looked at different videos on YouTube to see what the old style film credits and opening sequences looked like, then what the actual picture looked like and the quality of it.

25/09/2012

Today I made the opening credit for our film. We are all making one for our own edit. We did this on illustrator so we could trace round shapes and styles we found on the internet from the old films.

01/10/2012

Today we have discussed all the days we are free and everyone’s work times so that we can work around them. We have arranged to film tomorrow and been out to book kit and we will collect it tomorrow. We have also been to see the other tutors we have and asked to go out of their lessons for the day so that we have a full day of filming. We have decided on our final location for all our filming and it will be spread across local places so easier to get to.

02/10/2012

Today we got all the actors and crew and went out filming. Our original actor couldn’t come so we found a new one and it worked out better and saved us time waiting around for the other person. We filmed some of the first scene and got lots of extra shots and re takes so we had a lot of shots to work with. We had to use some props which included us buying a rose for our first shot, and then I had a bow tie on. We got a different range of shots so that we can edit them together and they will look better. We discussed the next time we would be filming because it went so well today and we want to get more done.

04/10/2012

Today I had to copy the shots from the shared drive and into the local drive on my computer so I could rename them so they would be easily recognisable. I then copied them back into the shared into a different folder so that everyone could copy the named files to their computers and use the shots in their own edit. We looked at the shots and some are blurry or there is things wrong with them so we are going to discuss when next we can go out for re shoots and more filming. Now I am going to edit as much as I can in my HD Premier Pro project and add the right title scenes to it.

08/10/2012

Today we have decided that tomorrow we will film. Jenny has been and booked the camera so we can have it out all day and bring

It and the tripod back at the end. I have also exported my titles for my edit from illustrator as JPEGs so I will import these into my premier pro project next time. We have made a schedule of what we are doing tomorrow so that we can stick to that and keep our time planned. We are going to reshoot and we have wrote down stage directions to so that all the shots are the same and nothing changes so that when we edit we can pick from any of the shots.

9/10/2012

Today we filmed in Monton we got most of the first shots of Ben for the first scene. This was a reshoot of what we took the other day because we weren’t happy with it. We got a range of different shots so that when it comes to editing it will have close up mid shots and long shots which we can edit all together.

10/10/2012

Today we copied all the shots over from the camera onto the new volume drive onto the main computer. This is so that when we have our next lesson they can be re-named and then copy into the shared so everyone can have them and import them into their Premier Pro project.

11/10/2012

Today we have re-named the shots to what shot it is what scene it is and what’s happening in the shot. Then we will copy them into the shared so we can all then copy them onto our new volume folder just for our computer. When we import them into Premier Pro because they are named we will know what each shot is so it will be easier.

15/10/2012

Today I imported all the shots into my Premier Pro HD project and sorted them all out into the ones I wanted to use and needed to edit. I selected all the shots I needed and put them on my timeline into my sequence once I had cut them and made sure they showed the bit I wanted. I added my titles that I created in illustrator to my project as well and changed the size and made it fit to the screen how I wanted it.

16/20/2012

Today I looked at the work and editing I did yesterday and decided to add some simple transitions. I added some fades to make my shots run together more smoothly. I changed the duration time on my titles because I don’t want them on there to long just enough to read them. I have exported out all my illustrator images for my titles as a jpeg and have them all saved in my new volume folder so they are just on my computer, ready to add to my short film when I need them.

18/10/2012

Today we did some reshoots of the second scene and got some new footage filmed. We have started the beginning of scene three with mark playing Ben running around the park spying on Jenny and George. We got different angles and shots for the same shot so we had a range to work with and lots to choose from to edit.

22/10/2012

Today I imported all the footage we filmed Thursday onto my Premier Pro project. A scene we filmed last week made us think we needed a title for this particular part of the film so I went onto my illustrator title template and made the new one and exported it from Illustrator and imported it into my Premier Pro project and fitted it into the sequence at the right part. I have edited together all the parts I can with the footage we have and put together Ben’s running around the park sequence. We have discussed and deciding we are filming tomorrow and are going to get some re shoots done of Jenny and George. Then we will film some new footage to add to our rough edit.

06/10/2012

Today I finished my rough edit and exported it as a video and then uploaded it to YouTube. This is so that I could embed it into my blogger and then write a short summary on what I had done and what I am going to improve about my edit.

08/11/2012

Today I finished my summary for my rough edit and embedded my YouTube video into the post. Now I am print screening pictures of the work I have done creating my rough edit and explaining why I did it and how.

13/11/2012

Today I updated my blog with all of the tasks I’ve done so far and linked them to task 4. I watched through my Premier Pro project today and thought about the scenes and shots I’m going to add when we next film some shots. We also talked today about getting some pictures of us filming and our location to add to our picture diary.

15/11/2012

Today I have updated my picture diary of all the locations we have been to and shots of Becky filming. I have written about why we chose these locations and whether they worked well or not.

27/11/2012

Today I have been looking for music for my short film edit. I have found some videos on YouTube that have the old music going over some old films so I am going to convert this and see how it sounds with my film. I have found some sounds effects to so I can add these to make my overall edit sound better.

29/11/2012

Today I am going to listen to each of the songs I have found with my short film and see which one goes best. Then I am going to look at more sound effects to add to my short film. I have cleaned up some of my editing so that i it doesn’t look to jumpy in some parts and I have watched it through again and know what shots we need to get to finish the short film.

Today I finished off my film and exported it out and saved it to my new volume folder. I named it IG3 finished short film. I then had to import it into after effects so that I could start all my editing of the whole film. I have looked at how a few effects have looked on my footage and what type of black and white I want. I have added an effect that makes the footage look jumpy and old.

04/12/2012

Today I finished of editing my full film in after effects I change the contrast and other effects so my edit looked different to everyone else’s. Then clicked on composition and render composition and rendered my whole film with the effects and saved it to my new volume folder.

06/12/2012

Today I opened my rendered film with effects in premiere pro so that I could watch it back and see how it looked and then start to add my music where I wanted it.

10/12/2012

Today I have looked at lots of different songs that I want to fit into certain parts of my film so it will match the mood of the scene. I am going to use HD Downloader to download them all so then I can import them into my premiere project of my final film and see how it looks.

11/12/2012

Today I imported all my songs to my premier project of the whole rendered film and put them on the audio track where I wanted them. I used transitions where the song changed to a new song so they linked together smoothly. I also started my evaluation for the final task of the project.

13/12/2012

Today because we never ended up shooting the last scene because of problems I rearranged all my footage on my original project on premier and made the ending look more finished and professional. I have added my music again and put it in the right places to match the right shots and scenes. I have added a few other shots and another title to my short film. I will then just need to export my project and put it into after effects with the effects I chose before and render it out again.

17/12/2012

Today I exported my film out from premiere pro so that tomorrow I can import it into after effects and lay it underneath my effects I chose for my final film. I saved it to my local drive because it’s a big file and named it something I would remember. I carried on writing up my evaluation as far as I could.

18/12/2012

Today I imported my film into after effects and added the effects to my new final edit. Then I rendered out the whole film in after effects. I saved this to my local drive also because it’s a big file then when it was finished I watched it through to make sure it was right. Then I uploaded my short film to YouTube so then on Thursday I can embed it into my blog and add my evaluation for the final task.
