THE ESSENCE OF TYPO- GRAPHY. The Essence of Typography is a new exhibition at the Design Museum in London hosting work from some of the most influential typographers and typefaces. The exhibition shows the development of type from early typographers, type design, to contemporary digital type and how its used in design today. In terms of the product, range and distribution I have designed A2 prints, a book, postcards, an A2 fold out and a website as my products. The range is the variety of these individual products, for example the different designs for the postcards. The distribution is the context in which these will be placed. For example the book will be sold in the gift shop of the museum alongside the postcards and A2 prints. The exhibition will have a promotional typeface which will change throughout the time that the exhibition is on, this will bring emphasis to a typeface and with it promotional material. This promotional typeface will also coincide with talks & Events at the exhibition bringing in working professionals who have been heavily influenced by that typeface in their own practice and design work. The Essence of Typography exhibition is targeted at Graphic Designers, printers, typographers, students studying in design and anyone with an interest in typography. ELLIOT MCKELLAR

THEESSENCE OF TYPO-GRAPHY.The Essence of Typography is a new exhibition at the Design Museum in London hosting work from some of the most influential typographers and typefaces. The Book will be sold at the gift shop and online, the contents is very general covering a range of typefaces. This would be sold alongside a range of other books which would cover these individual typeface in more detail with a more in depth look at the history of that particular typeface, how influential it has been and how to use the typeface in design.

POSTCARDS THEESSENCE OF TYPO-GRAPHY.

The range of promotional material will also consist of postcards, simple visual aestehetics which show off the typeface and are relevant to the exhibition, they’resomething cheap and cheerful for the visitors to take home and send to their friends.

The range of postcards will be sold in the gift shop of the museum alongside the book and prints.

WEBSITE THEESSENCE OF TYPO-GRAPHY.

To the right I have advertised the ‘Essence of Type Exhibition’ as it would look if it was on the site for the design museum.

The website will be created separetly and in partnership with the design museum Thus meaning there will be two online resources for the exhibition. The websites will host all things relevant to the exhibition from the talks and events, the work thats being exhibited, typographers, ticket sale to the exhibition and an online resource for the gift shop.

Bodoni Month

THEESSENCE OF TYPO-GRAPHY.

For Every month that the exhibition is open there will bea promotional typeface. The promotional typeface willcoincide with talks and events in relation to that typeface. for example ‘Bodoni Month’ Visitors will recieve a Double sided A2 handout, which tells you everything youneed to know about the typeface Bodoni, its history, who

designed it and type charecteristics that make bodoni, unique in comparison to other fonts. This would also double up as a poster on the back for visitors to take home and use. The talks and events would consist of designers and typographers whos work has been heavily influenced by bodoni.

PRINTS THEESSENCE OF TYPO-GRAPHY.

A series of A2 prints to be sold at the gift shop of thedesign museum. The prints celebrate all things typographic from typefaces to typographers and letterforms. When people go to an exhibition they want to bring something home with them, The high quality prints are for visitors to buy, They will be sold at an appropraite price

Promotional posters will be put around Londonpromoting the exhibition. In Print shop windows, bus stops, other public transport locations and tourist spots.

I have also created an E-flyer to promote the event, This will be advertised on design and typography blogs as well as font shops (as shown above) so my direct target audience become aware of the exhibition.

I will propose that all signage will keep in theme with the other designs. The signage would direct and help visitors navigate through the exhibition.

Other future proposals to do with the exhibition would be the layout of the exhibitions itself and what rooms there would be, what they would exhibit and the props around the exhibition.
