S-Probe HeadstageThe unique feature of the S-Probe is the significantly reduced size and weight compared to our standard headstages. This allows for compat-ibility with a wider range of applications, especially when experimental space is limited or where the weight of the headstage itself matters. The electrical specifications of the S-Probe are identical to our standard Red Star Headstage, with the added feature of an optional bath sense connection enabling operation in 3-electrode mode (with EPC 10 USB only), see 3-Electrode Mode headstage.It is compatible with a new EPC 10 USB or EPC 800 USB amplifier and is also available as an upgrade. Check with our support team to find out if this headstage is supported by your HEKA patch clamp amplifier.

Patch Amperometry HeadstageThis headstage is for an EPC 10 USB patch clamp amplifier patch clamp amplifier with ground routing switchable between GND plug and BNC shield. It is compatible with typical patch amperometry electrode hold-ers and can be used in combination with an EPC 10 Double USB patch clamp amplifier for combined patch amperometry and on-cell capacitance measurements.It is available with a new EPC 10 USB or sold separately as additional headstage to upgrade an EPC 10 USB.

3-Electrode Mode HeadstageThis headstage supports a third potential measuring electrode. The potential between reference and ground electrode is measured and automatically added to the potential between working and ground electrode. Typical applications are:• accounting for changing liquid junction potentials,• precise electrochemical measurements.It is available with a new EPC 10 USB or as additional headstage to upgrade an EPC 10 USB patch clamp amplifier (revision “N” and later).

Hybrid Stage for Inverted and Upright Microscopes The Hybrid Stage for Microscopy provides a stable platform for patch clamp studies and other experiments. The XY-translator can be used manually or with motorized control. Two different platforms are available to meet the requirements for inverted and upright microscopes.

Gantry Stage TowerThis replacement of the conventional microscope stage on upright and inverted microscopes. This tower minimizes vibration and drift. It is compatible with Sutter Instrument micromanipulators and configurable to match perfusion chamber adapters.

Computer Controlled Potentiostats / Galvanostats

The PG 600 USB family - The computer-controlled potentiostats/galvanostats come with a fully integrated LIH 8+8 data acquisition interface and can be controlled by POTMASTER that works under Windows or Mac OS.

The PG 300 USB family - The PG 300 USB family - It comes with the same acquisition interface and therefore is controlled by POTMASTER running under Windows and Mac OS. The analog amplifier section has different current ranges and compliance voltages.

PG 610 USB Potentiostat / GalvanostatCurrent ranges from 20 nA up to 100 mA, compliance voltage up to 10 V.

These potentiostats / galvanostats do not have a built-in data acquisition interface. All HEKA manually con-trolled potentiostats / galvanostats include a serial interface RS-232 which enables digital remote control. HEKA also provides the software PGMASTER for control of the potentiostats / galvanostats free of charge.

EPA - External PreamplifierTo be used with a PG 310 USB or PG 340 USB for low noise measurements in current ranges 100 pA, 1 nA, 10 nA and 100 nA. The EPA works in potentiostatic and galvanostatic modes and provides an additional input for a low current working electrode.

HCB 50 - High Current BoosterCan be used with all HEKA potentiostats / galvanostats and other third-party potentiostats for currents up to 50 A at 10 V, per-manently short circuit protected.

MC 300 Model CellA model circuit for all HEKA potentiostats / galvanostats for current ranges from 1 μA to 10 A. The circuit includes different ca-pacitors forming various Randle circuits. The cell can be used for testing the potentiostat and for calibrating the current ranges for impedance measurements.

Platinum Microdisk ElectrodesThe electroactive core is completely surrounded by glass allowing the electrodes to be used in strong acids and aggres-sive organic solvents. Available diameters and RG values are:

Gold Microdisk Electrodes, 10 µm and 25 µmThe electroactive core is com-pletely surrounded by glass al-lowing the electrodes to be used in strong acids and aggressive organic solvents. The electroac-tive diameter is 10 µm, the RG value approximately 3, and the length approximately 8 cm.

Carbon Fiber Microdisk Electrodes, 4.7 µm and 11 µmCarbon fiber microelectrode is completely surrounded by glass. The electroactive diameter is 4.7 µm, the RG value approximately 3, and the length approximately 8 cm.The surface is polished as a micro disc. This carbon fiber electrode uses no polymers and glues to isolate the core of the carbon fiber. Therefore the elec-trodes can be used in aggressive chemical media like acids and organic solvents (methylene chloride, acetonitrile).

Carbon Fiber MicroelectrodesManufactured with the an-odic electrophoretic deposition of paint (EDP) method. The electrode is 5 μm in diameter. It comes with a gold plated pin connected. PatchServer The PatchServer is able to establish whole-cell recording or single-channel configurations using tools and techniques from the manual patch approach.It utilizes standard glass elec-trodes and employs step-by-step the patch clamp procedures that would be applied by human experimenters as well.
