Site Selection The platform is designed to operate in a commercial or data center environment. At a minimum, the site should be:

◆ Clean, dry, and free of airborne particles (other than normal room dust).

◆ Well-ventilated and away from sources of heat including direct sunlight and radiators.

◆ Away from sources of vibration or physical shock.

◆ Isolated from strong electromagnetic fields produced by electrical devices.

◆ Provided with properly grounded wall outlets.

◆ Provided with access to the power supply cord(s), that serve as the product's main power disconnect.

Equipment Handling Practices

��

Trained personnel are advised to exercise great care at all times when working on the unit. Remember to:

◆ Remove rings, watches, or other jewelry and neckties before you begin any procedures.

◆ Use caution near any moving part and any part that may start unexpectedly such as fans, motors, and solenoids.

◆ Always use the correct tools for the job.

◆ Always use the correct replacement parts.

◆ Keep all paperwork, including incident reports, up to date, complete, and accurate.

Most enclosures are heavy and should be installed into a rack by at least two people. To avoid personal injury and/or damage to the equipment, do not attempt to lift and install the enclosure into a rack without a mechanical lift and/or help from another person.

If the platform has been running, any installed processor and the heat sink on the processor board will be hot. To avoid the possibility of a burn, be careful when removing or installing system board components that are located near processors.



Power and Electrical Warnings

��

Power buttons DO NOT completely turn off the system AC or DC power. Standby power is active whenever the system is plugged in. To remove power from a storage platform, you must unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or cabinet Power Distribution Unit (PDU). Make sure all power cords are unplugged. Make sure the power cord(s) is/are unplugged before you open the chassis, or add or remove any non hot-swappable components.

Each enclosure includes two power cords. To completely remove system power, you must disconnect both cords.

The power supplies in these platforms contain no user-serviceable parts. Do not open a power supply; return it to the manufacturer for servicing.

When replacing a hot-plug power supply, unplug the power cord to the power supply being replaced before removing it from the product.

To avoid risk of electric shock, turn off the platform and disconnect the power cord, telecommunications systems, networks, and modems attached to the product before opening it.

��

Ground circuit continuity is vital for safe operation of the machine. Some platforms may use high leakage 3-phase current. Never operate the machine with grounding conductors disconnected. Remember to reconnect any grounding conductors removed for or during any installation procedure.

��

DOUBLE POLE/NEUTRAL FUSING. Parts of the equipment may remain energized and present an electrical hazard after a single fuse trips.

Power Cord Warnings

If an appropriate AC or DC power cord was not provided with your product, purchase one that is approved for use in your country.

��

To avoid electrical shock or fire, check the power cord(s) that will be used with the product as follows:

◆ Do not attempt to modify or use the AC or DC power cord(s) if they are not the exact type required to fit into the grounded electrical outlets

◆ The power cord(s) must meet the following criteria:

• The power cord must have an electrical rating that is greater than that of theelectrical current rating marked on the product.

• The power cord must have safety ground pin or contact that is suitable for theelectrical outlet.

◆ The power supply cord(s) is/are the main disconnect device to AC or DC power. The socket outlet(s) must be near the equipment and readily accessible for disconnection.

◆ The power supply cord(s) must be plugged into socket-outlet(s) that is /are provided with a suitable earth ground.

System Access Warnings

��

To avoid personal injury or property damage, the following safety instructions apply whenever attempting access to the inside of the product:

◆ Turn off all peripheral devices connected to this product.

◆ Press any power buttons to off.

◆ Disconnect the AC or DC power by unplugging all power cords from the system or wall outlet.

◆ Disconnect all cables and telecommunication lines that are connected to the system.

◆ Do not attempt to gain access to the inside of the power supply. There are no serviceable parts in the power supply. Return to manufacturer for servicing.

◆ Power down the product and disconnect all power cords before adding or replacing any non hot-plug component.

◆ When replacing a hot-plug power supply, unplug the power cord to the power supply being replaced before removing the power supply from the product

If the enclosure has been running, any installed processor and the heat sink on the processor board will be hot. To avoid the possibility of a burn, be careful when removing or installing system board components that are located near processors.

Do not contact moving parts, such as fan blades. If your system is supplied with guards over the fans, do not operate the system without the fan guards in place.

Cabinet/Rack Mount Warnings Anchor the equipment rack to an unmovable support to prevent it from tipping when a product or piece of equipment is extended from it. Install the equipment cabinet/rack according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Install equipment in the cabinet/rack from the bottom up, with the heaviest equipment at the bottom.

Extend only one piece of equipment from the cabinet/rack at a time.

Install a main power disconnect for the entire cabinet/rack unit. Label the main disconnect as controlling power to the entire cabinet/rack unit, and make it readily accessible.

To avoid risk of potential electric shock, a proper safety ground must be implemented for the rack and each piece of equipment installed in it.

Refer to the component’s technical specifications and observe the following safety guidelines when installing the equipment in a rack or cabinet.

◆ The installation environment must support the maximum ambient temperature of the installed equipment.

◆ The installation environment must not restrict proper air flow.

◆ Mount the equipment evenly and avoid potentially unstable mechanical loading.

◆ Do not overload electrical power circuits. Refer to the device rating labels on the equipment to calculate power\circuit requirements.

◆ Maintain reliable grounding. Pay particular attention to indirect connections to the branch circuit (for example, power strips).

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)

EMC incorporates state-of-the-art technology in its designs, including the use of complex integrated circuit components. These parts are very susceptible to damage caused by static discharge and need to be handled accordingly.

��

Before handling printed-circuit boards, observe the following precautions:

◆ Store all printed-circuit boards in antistatic bags.

◆ Use a ground strap or anti-static gloves whenever you handle a printed-circuit board.

◆ Unless specifically designed for nondisruptive replacement, never plug or unplug printed-circuit boards with the power on. Severe component damage may result.



Other Hazards

Battery Replacement

A lithium battery on a storage processor can power the real-time clock (RTC) for three to four years in the absence of power. Only trained personnel should change or replace these batteries.

��

Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to manufacturer's instructions; do not attempt to recharge, disassemble, puncture, or otherwise damage a battery.

Cooling and Airflow

Carefully route cables to minimize airflow blockage and cooling problems.

For proper cooling and airflow, operate the system only with the doors, sides, and bezels installed. Operating the system without the covers in place can damage system parts.

Laser Peripherals or Devices

Laser devices used with these platforms, such as Fibre Channel components, are considered Class 1 laser devices that pose no inherent danger to humans.

NEBS-Compliant Environments (GR-1089)

Installation notes

◆ Most EMC power supplies include a grounding nut in addition to cable connector grounds. NEBS compliance for platforms without the extra ground requires use of shape thread rolling (sometimes called trilobular) screws to secure each chassis to cabinet/rack front channels.

◆ NEBS compliance requires that your site provide lightning surge suppression adequate to protect any internet SCSI (iSCSI) connections from data loss.

◆ NEBS compliance for all AC-powered platforms requires an external surge protection device (SPD) as part of the AC power network infrastructure.

��

Any intra-building port of a chassis is suitable for connection to intra-building or unexposed wiring or cabling only. Any intra-building port of a component MUST NOT be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the outside plant or its wiring. These interfaces are designed for use as intra-building interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4 ports as described in GR-1089-CORE, Issue 6) and require isolation from the exposed outside plant cabling. The addition of primary protectors is not sufficient protection when connecting these interfaces metallically to outside plant wiring.

◆ 始终使用正确的更换部件。

◆ 保持包括事件报告在内的所有文书工作的时新性、完整性和准确性。

大部分存储模块都比较重，应至少由两人合力将其安装在机架中。为避免人身伤害和 / 或设备的损坏，在没有机械提升装置和 / 或他人帮助的情况下，请勿试图抬起存储模块并将其安装在机架中。

如果平台已经在运行，任何已安装处理器和处理器板上的散热片都会非常热。为避

电源和电气警告

电源按钮无法彻底关闭系统交流或直流电源。每当系统插入电源时，备用电源均处

机柜 / 机架装载警告将设备机架锚定到固定支架，以防产品或设备向外扩展时机架发生倾倒。按照制造

商的说明安装设备机柜 / 机架。

自上而下将设备安装到机柜 / 机架中，将最重的设备放在底部。

一次仅从机柜 / 机架扩展一台设备。

为整个机柜 / 机架单元安装一个主电源断路装置。将主电源断路装置标记为整个机柜 / 机架单元的电源控制装置，并使其可随时访问。

为避免潜在触电风险，必须为机架以及安装在机架上的每台设备实施适当的安全

接地。

将设备安装到机架或机柜中时，请参阅组件的技术规格并遵循以下安全指导原则。

◆ 安装环境必须支持所安装设备的最大环境温度。

◆ 安装环境不得限制正常的空气流动。

◆ 平稳装载设备，避免可能不稳定的机械加载。

冷却和空气流动

认真布置线缆，以最大限度减少气流阻塞和冷却问题。

为实现正常冷却和空气流动，请仅在安装了门、两侧和挡板的情况下操作该系统。

如果顶盖未就位，则操作该系统可能会损坏系统部件。

激光外围设备或设备

与这些平台配合使用的激光设备（如光纤通道组件）均视为 1 类激光设备，对人体没有内在危险。

符合 NEBS 标准的环境 (GR-1089)

安装说明

◆ 除缆线连接器接地线外，大部分 EMC 电源还包括接地螺母。未进行额外接地的平台的 NEBS 遵从性都要求使用成型滚丝（有时称为三角牙）螺钉，从而将每个机箱固定在机柜 / 机架前通道上。

重要な通知には、ソフトウェアやハードウェアを操作する上で欠かせない情報が

含まれています。

サイト選択このプラットフォームは、商用環境またはデータセンター環境で運用するように

設計されています。サイトは、少なくとも以下の条件を満たす必要があります。

◆ 清潔で乾燥し、空気中に浮遊する微粒子（通常の室内の粉塵以外）がない

場所。

機器の取り扱い方法

トレーニングを受けたスタッフがユニットを取り扱う際は、常に細心の注意を払うようにしてください。次の点に注意してください。

ほとんどのエンクロージャは重いため、2 人以上でラックに取り付ける必要があります。けがや装置の損傷を避けるため、自動リフトを使用するか、複数の作業

者（またはその両方）で作業を行ってください。1 人でエンクロージャを持ち上げたり、取り付けたりしないでください。

電源および電気に関する警告

キャビネット / ラックマウントに関する警告サーバまたは機器を拡張しているときに機器ラックが倒れないように、しっかり

その他の危険

バッテリの交換

ストレージプロセッサのリチウム電池は、電源がない状態で 3 ～ 4 年間リアルタイムクロック（RTC）に電源を供給できます。トレーニングを受けた担当者以外は電池を交換しないでください。

バッテリの交換が不適切な場合、爆発する恐れがあります。装置メーカーが推奨

する電池と同じものか相当品以外とは交換しないでください。使用済みの電池は

メーカーの指示に従って廃棄してください。バッテリを再充電、分解、穿孔、ま

たはその他の方法で損傷しないでください。

冷却および空気の流れ

空気の流れの妨害や冷却の問題を最小限に抑えるため、慎重に経路を指定し

ます。

適切な冷却および空気の流れのため、システムを稼働するときは、必ずドア、側

面、ベゼルを取り付けてください。カバーを取り付けずにシステムを稼働する

と、システムの部品を損傷する可能性があります。

レーザー周辺機器またはデバイス

ファイバチャネルコンポーネントなど、これらのプラットフォームと併用するレーザー機器はクラス 1 レーザー機器とみなされ、人体に対する内在的な危険はありません。



NEBS 準拠環境（GR-1089）

設置に関する注記

장비 취급 방법

ESD(Electrostatic Discharge)

EMC는 복잡한 집적 회로 구성 요소를 비롯한 최첨단 기술을 설계에 통합했습니다. 이러한 부품은 정전기 방전에 의해 쉽게 손상될 수 있으므로 주의해서 취급해야 합니다.

기타 위험

배터리 교체

전력 공급이 중단될 경우 스토리지 프로세서의 리튬 배터리는 실시간 클록(RTC)에 3~4년 간 전력을 공급할 수 있습니다. 이러한 배터리의 교환, 교체는 숙련된 인력이 해야 합니다.

레이저 주변기기 또는 디바이스

이러한 플랫폼과 함께 사용된 레이저 디바이스(예: Fibre Channel 구성 요소)는 인체에 유해하지 않은 1급 레이저 디바이스로 간주됩니다.

NEBS 규정 준수 환경 (GR-1089)

설치 참고 사항

◆ 대부분의 EMC 전원 공급 장치는 케이블 커넥터 접지와 함께 접지 너트 를 포함하고 있습니다. 추가 접지가 없는 플랫폼에서 NEBS 규정을 준수하려면 캐비닛/랙의 전면 채널에 각 섀시를 고정하는 데 전조(소위 trilobular) 나사를 사용해야 합니다.

Pratiques de manipulation de l'équipement

Il est conseillé au personnel formé de faire preuve de prudence à tout moment en manipulant l'unité. Veillez à :

◆ retirer votre cravate, votre montre, vos bagues ainsi que tout autre bijou avant d'entamer quelque procédure que ce soit ;

◆ faire preuve de prudence en manipulant les pièces mobiles ou les éléments susceptibles de démarrer inopinément, tels que les ventilateurs, les moteurs et les solénoïdes ;

◆ toujours utiliser les outils appropriés ;

◆ toujours utiliser les pièces de remplacement appropriées ;

◆ remplir précisément et tenir à jour tous les documents nécessaires, dont les rapports d’incident.

La plupart des boîtiers sont lourds : ils doivent être installés par deux personnes au moins. Pour éviter des blessures corporelles et/ou d’abîmer le matériel, n’essayez pas de porter et d’installer l’unité dans un rack sans levier mécanique et/ou l’aide d’une autre personne.

Si la plate-forme était en fonctionnement, les processeurs installés et le dissipateur thermique sur la carte processeur sont chauds. Pour éviter les brûlures, soyez prudent en retirant ou en installant les composants de la carte mère situés près des processeurs.



Avertissements relatifs à l'alimentation et à l'électricité

Les boutons d'alimentation NE coupent PAS totalement l'alimentation CA ou CC. L'alimentation de secours est active tant que le système y est branché. Pour couper l'alimentation d'une plate-forme de stockage, vous devez débrancher le câble d'alimentation de la prise murale ou de l'unité d'alimentation de l'armoire. Assurez-vous d'avoir bien débranché tous les câbles d'alimentation. Assurez-vous que tous les câbles d'alimentation sont débranchés avant d'ouvrir le châssis et d'ajouter ou de retirer un composant non remplaçable à chaud.

Les alimentations de ces plates-formes ne contiennent aucune pièce réparable par l'utilisateur. N'essayez pas d'ouvrir une alimentation. Renvoyez-la au fabricant pour réparation.

Lorsque vous remplacez une alimentation remplaçable à chaud, débranchez le câble de l'alimentation à remplacer, avant de la retirer du produit.

Afin d'éviter tout risque de choc électrique, éteignez la plate-forme et débranchez le câble d'alimentation, les systèmes de télécommunication, les réseaux et les modems reliés au produit avant de l'ouvrir.

Il est essentiel de conserver la continuité de la mise à la terre pour garantir la sécurité des opérations sur la machine. Certaines plates-formes utilisent du courant de fuite en triphasé. N'effectuez jamais d'opérations sur la machine lorsque les conducteurs de terre sont débranchés. N'oubliez pas de rebrancher les connecteurs de terre après toute procédure d'installation.

FUSIBLE DEUX PÔLES/NEUTRE Certaines parties de l'équipement peuvent rester sous tension et présenter un risque d'électrocution après le déclenchement d'un fusible.

Chaque boîtier dispose de deux câbles d’alimentation. Pour couper totalement l'alimentation du système, vous devez débrancher les deux câbles.

Si aucun câble d'alimentation CA ou CC approprié n'est fourni avec votre produit, achetez-en un dont l'utilisation est approuvée dans votre pays.

◆ Les câbles d'alimentation sont les principaux dispositifs de coupure du courant pour les alimentations CA ou CC. Les socles doivent se trouver près de l'équipement et être facilement accessibles afin que vous puissiez débrancher rapidement le câble en cas de besoin.

◆ Les câbles d'alimentation doivent être branchés à des socles dotés d'une mise à la terre adaptée.

Installez un dispositif principal de coupure du courant pour l'armoire ou le rack. Étiquetez le dispositif de coupure du courant de l'armoire ou du rack et assurez-vous qu'il est facilement accessible.

◆ L'environnement d'installation doit supporter la température ambiante maximale de l'équipement installé.

◆ L'environnement d'installation ne doit pas entraver la bonne circulation de l'air.

◆ Montez l'équipement de façon équilibrée pour éviter toute charge mécanique instable.

◆ Ne surchargez pas les circuits électriques. Consultez les étiquettes indiquant les caractéristiques électriques de l'équipement pour calculer la puissance requise.

◆ Assurez-vous de la fiabilité de la mise à la terre. Faites particulièrement attention aux connexions indirectes au circuit de dérivation (les multiprises par exemple).

Décharge électrostatique

EMC intègre une technologie de pointe dans ses produits, notamment des composants complexes de circuits intégrés. Ces pièces sont extrêmement sensibles aux dommages provoqués par les décharges d’électricité statique et doivent donc être manipulées en conséquence.

Avant de manipuler des cartes à circuits imprimés, prenez les précautions suivantes :

◆ Conservez toutes les cartes à circuits imprimés dans des sachets antistatiques.

◆ Munissez-vous d'un bracelet ou de gants antistatiques pour manipuler les cartes à circuits imprimés.



◆ Ne retirez ni n'insérez jamais une carte à circuits imprimés sans mettre le système hors tension, sauf si elle est conçue pour le remplacement à chaud. Il peut en résulter de sérieux dégâts au niveau des composants.

Autres risques

Changement de la batterie

La batterie lithium d'un processeur de stockage peut alimenter l'horloge en temps réel pendant trois à quatre ans en l'absence d'autres sources d'alimentation. Le remplacement de la batterie devrait être confié uniquement à du personnel correctement formé.

Tout remplacement incorrect de la batterie peut provoquer une explosion. Remplacez la batterie par une batterie de type identique ou équivalent, conformément aux recommandations du fabricant de l’équipement. Débarrassez-vous des batteries usagées conformément aux instructions du fabricant. N'essayez pas de recharger, démonter, percer ou endommager une batterie.

Refroidissement et circulation de l'air

Acheminez les câbles en évitant de bloquer la circulation de l'air et de provoquer des problèmes de refroidissement.

Afin d'assurer un bon refroidissement et une circulation optimale de l'air, n'utilisez le système qu'une fois les portes, les parois latérales et les panneaux installés. En utilisant le système avant d'installer les capots, vous risquez d'endommager les pièces.

Périphériques et appareils laser

Les appareils laser utilisés avec ces plates-formes, tels que les composants Fibre Channel, sont des appareils laser de Classe 1, qui ne sont pas directement dangereux pour l'homme.

Environnements compatibles NEBS (GR-1089)

Remarques relatives à l'installation

◆ La plupart des alimentations EMC comprennent un écrou de mise à la terre en plus des connecteurs de mise à la terre. Pour être compatibles NEBS, les plates-formes sans mise à la terre supplémentaire nécessitent l'utilisation de vis autoformeuses (aussi appelées vis trilobées) afin de fixer chaque châssis au montant avant de l'armoire ou du rack.

◆ Pour être compatible NEBS, votre site doit être doté d'un équipement de suppression de la surtension causée par la foudre, capable de protéger une connexion iSCSI afin d'éviter les pertes de données.

◆ La compatibilité NEBS pour toutes les plate-formes à alimentation CA exige un dispositif externe de protection contre les surtensions dans l'infrastructure réseau CA.

Tous les ports réservés à l'utilisation d'un châssis à l'intérieur d'un bâtiment sont uniquement destinés à une connexion en intérieur ou avec du câblage non exposé aux intempéries. Il est rigoureusement interdit d'établir un contact métallique entre les ports réservés à l'utilisation d'un composant à l'intérieur d'un bâtiment et des interfaces connectées à des installations en extérieur ou à leur câblage. Ces interfaces sont en effet destinées uniquement à un usage en intérieur (les ports de type 2 ou 4 sont décrits dans le document GR-1089-CORE, volume 6) ; elles doivent être isolées de tout câblage exposé à l'extérieur. L'ajout de dispositifs de protection primaire n'offre pas une protection suffisante pour permettre de raccorder par contact métallique ces interfaces à un câblage ou une installation en extérieur.

Vorgehensweise zur Handhabung der Anlage

Die geschulten Mitarbeiter werden zu höchster Vorsicht bei der Arbeit an der Einheit aufgefordert. Denken Sie daran:

◆ Entfernen Sie Ringe, Uhren und anderen Schmuck, bevor Sie mit einem Vorgang starten.

◆ Seien Sie vorsichtig in der Nähe von beweglichen Teilen und Teilen, die unerwartet Ihren Betrieb starten, wie Lüftern, Motoren oder Magneten.

◆ Verwenden Sie stets die richtigen Werkzeuge für den Job.

Die meisten Gehäuse sind schwer und sollten daher von zwei Personen in das Rack eingebaut werden. Warnhinweise für Strom und Elektronik

Mit Netzschaltern wird der Wechsel- oder Gleichstrom des Systems NICHT vollständig abgeschaltet. Solange das System mit dem Stromnetz verbunden ist, bleibt es im Standby-Modus. Um den Strom von einer Speicherplattform zu entfernen, müssen Sie das Stromkabel aus der Steckdose oder dem Netzanschluss im Schrank (Stromverteiler) ziehen. Achten Sie darauf, dass alle Stromkabel abgezogen sind. Achten Sie darauf, dass das bzw. die Stromkabel abgezogen sind, bevor Sie das Gehäuse öffnen, oder Komponenten, die nicht Hot-Swap-fähig sind, entfernen oder hinzufügen.

Die Netzteile in diesen Plattformen enthalten keine Teile für Service und Wartung durch den Anwender. Öffnen Sie kein Netzteil; schicken Sie es zur Wartung an den Hersteller zurück.

Warnhinweise für Stromkabel

Wenn im Lieferumfang Ihres Produkts kein passendes Wechsel- oder Gleichstromkabel enthalten ist, kaufen Sie ein für die Verwendung in Ihrem Land zugelassenes Stromkabel.

Um einen Stromschlag oder Feuer zu vermeiden, überprüfen Sie das bzw. die für das Produkt zu verwendende(n) Stromkabel wie folgt:

◆ Versuchen Sie nicht, Wechsel- oder Gleichstromkabel zu ändern oder zu verwenden, wenn sie nicht genau dem Typ entsprechen, der für die Steckdosen erforderlich ist.

◆ Das bzw. die Stromkabel müssen den folgenden Kriterien entsprechen:

• Das Stromkabel muss über eine elektronische Klassifizierung verfügen, die höher ist als die auf dem Produkt angegebene elektronische Klassifizierung.

• Das Stromkabel muss über einen Erdungsstift oder -kontakt verfügen, der für die Steckdose geeignet ist.

◆ Das bzw. die Stromkabel stellt bzw. stellen den Hauptanschluss an den Wechsel- oder Gleichstrom dar. Die Steckdose(n) muss bzw. müssen sich in der Nähe der Anlage befinden und für das Trennen vom Strom gut zugänglich sein.

◆ Das bzw. die Stromkabel muss bzw. müssen an Steckdosen angeschlossen werden, die über eine passende Erdung verfügen.



Warnhinweise für den Zugriff auf das System

Um Verletzungen oder Schäden an Geräten zu vermeiden, gelten die folgenden Sicherheitsanweisungen bei jedem Zugriffsversuch auf das Innenleben des Produkts:

◆ Schalten Sie alle mit dem Gerät verbundenen Peripheriegeräte ab.

◆ Drücken Sie alle Netzschalter auf „Aus“.

◆ Trennen Sie die Wechsel- oder Gleichstromverbindung, indem Sie alle Stromkabel vom Gerät und aus der Steckdose abziehen.

◆ Ziehen Sie alle mit dem System verbundenen Kabel und Telekommunikationsleitungen ab.

◆ Versuchen Sie nicht, auf das Innenleben des Netzteils zuzugreifen. Im Netzteil sind keine Teile für Service oder Wartung enthalten. Schicken Sie es zur Wartung an den Hersteller zurück.

◆ Schalten Sie das Produkt aus, und ziehen Sie alle Stromkabel ab, bevor Sie Komponenten, die nicht Hot-Plug-fähig sind, hinzufügen oder austauschen.
